There was heavy rain and I drove my car into an intersection where there was a lot of water. I didn't know that the water level was that high until it was too late. My car stalled The water level wasn't high enough to get into the interior of my car, but it was high enough to make it stall. It wasn't left in the deep water for too long. I had help pushing it out of the water after several minutes. I tried to start the car again. The starter cranked, but there is no combustion. I was wondering if any serious damage has been done to the car. It was not flooded up to the windshield like the ones you see in the news.

I had a tire guy look at it a while back...he said it was ok, but to keep an eye on it. It makes me nervous though. .

Should I get a new set?

Otherwise my tires are ok, only 30,000 miles on them. I just changed job locations, so I have to commute longer distances now.

Hi, there--My beloved 1989 Honda Prelude is losing power steering fluid. I've used replacement fluid from AutoZone made especially for Hondas--but I think I'm still leaking. Here's what I'm wondering:

Some other products on the shelf claimed to be able to help seal leaks, and that they were good for all cars, import and domestic. I was tempted to get one of these, but someone once told me not to use any fluid not specifically designed for Hondas.

What I'm wondering is: Any Honda owners have luck with a particular kind of steering fluid with a sealant? I'd like to try to stop my leak, but I don't want to use stuff that's bad for my car. And I don't think I can afford a major repair. Anything over 250 bucks and it's time to save for a down payment on something new!

Thanks a lot, Honda people!

Had my car for 90 days, purchase from Carmax dealership, not the Pontiac delership currently doing my repair. First week the 2001 firebird had to have engine coils replaced from carmax. Then I complained about the transmission. Carmax told me they had it checked totally out that week, "just a tight tranny they said" and that it was fine. That was in week 3. Now my car is in the pontiac delearship shop and needs a rebuilt transmission. Can I get any money back? Its only been 90 days or so, and the Pontiac delership is saying that someone, presumably car max, has been in my tranny.

I have an '06 Chevy Cobalt that has this oil-life feature. I drove it about 5000 miles since my last oil change and it said I still had 37% oil life left. My dad is of the opinion that oil absolutely needs to be changed every 3000 miles, or the engine is going to blow up the day after the warranty expires. Are cars just made to use oil longer than the ones my dad learned to work on, or should I still change it very 3000 miles?

1998 BMW E39 528i Auto Trans, 170,000 miles, Temperature gauge stays in middle when driving in city, highway, mountains with A/C on. But today after 15 miles of city driving, I stopped in parking lot for 10 minutes, engine running, transmission in Park with A/C on, and the temperature gauge went in red zone (red light came on). I should have turned the car off, but I had a feeling that once I started driving, the temp gauge needle will go to middle and it surely did go back to middle all the 15 miles of city driving back home.
I checked and there are no leaks, coolant reservoir is full, both fans (front and back) of radiator are running (when car in Park with A/C on).
Waterpump, thermostat (cooler temp type), and coolant were replaced about 2 years ago. So, what else can cause the overheating when in Park ??

we have a 1995 Pontiac Transport 219000miles .. Yes i know it has a lot of miles, but here is my question ...

From a cold start, it starts just fine , and idles high , but if we go to put it in gear (any) it makes a shifting sound like it is going to go into gear , but it just sits there and revs up. If we let it sit for 15-20 minutes , it will go into gear.
When you are going down the road , it shifts hard , and most of the time when you are driving down the road , it will shift out of gear to neutral or anyway acts like neutrual.

When you stop at a light or a sign if we dont shift it down into 2nd or 1st gear it will go out of drive and then we have to shift it back to neutral , and then back to drive.
And when you are at a take off it will rumble with the take off .
We have tried changing the transmission filter , and fluid as well as the spark plugs and wires , and still doing this , what can you tell me to try and fix this , are we looking at replacing the transmission or is there something else we can try ??

My service engine soon light has been on and off since february. I have taken it to the dealership, autozone, and my mechanic and they all say the computer is reading bad O2 sensors and catalytic converter. They have all been replaced three times, but the light still comes on. I have been told that the light coming on is a common problem in 02 and 03 grand ams and gran prix's. Is there any way to get the light off, or any idea of what could be causing this? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Like I said I have a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria that was once a Police car and it has holes on the top where the sirens used to be.

My questions are these.

What happens if I never get this fixed?

How will rain or snow affect it?

Where could I go to get this fixed?

How much would it cost?

And is there a way that I could fix it myself and have it look nice?

I am looking for people who know what they are talking about.

Please Help.
