we have a 1995 Pontiac Transport 219000miles .. Yes i know it has a lot of miles, but here is my question ...

From a cold start, it starts just fine , and idles high , but if we go to put it in gear (any) it makes a shifting sound like it is going to go into gear , but it just sits there and revs up. If we let it sit for 15-20 minutes , it will go into gear.
When you are going down the road , it shifts hard , and most of the time when you are driving down the road , it will shift out of gear to neutral or anyway acts like neutrual.

When you stop at a light or a sign if we dont shift it down into 2nd or 1st gear it will go out of drive and then we have to shift it back to neutral , and then back to drive.
And when you are at a take off it will rumble with the take off .
We have tried changing the transmission filter , and fluid as well as the spark plugs and wires , and still doing this , what can you tell me to try and fix this , are we looking at replacing the transmission or is there something else we can try ??

transmission fluid is fine , at the correct level . Next suggestion? What front Pump are you talking about ?

It sounds like you have a front pump about to go bad. As they wear they produce less and less pressure and the transmission won't operate properly.

The front pump is part of the transmission. It provides fluid pressure that operates the transmission clutches, etc. and provides lubrication.

A good shop should be able to do a pressure test for about $50 to $75 to confirm this.

Since I imagine you will need a rebuild, I'd shop around for a good price on a rebuild at a reputable transmission shop.
Then take it in and have them do a pressure check. If the check confirms the need for an overhaul they will probably not charge you for the pressure check.

There are not many automatic transmission left with bands in them. You still have (some) clutch plates though. As they wear, it becomes harder for the transmission to hold enough pressure to get you moving. If heating it up is swelling parts to fit, this won't keep up for long. Best have it looked at and buy the way, how many miles on the trany?

change the modulator valve its in expensive and it s purpose is to keep the transmission from shifting hard thru the gears.
