I'm changing the radiator on my 1988 Ford F-150 truck. The tranmission lines go in and out of the reservoir. My dad says that I need to fill that with tranny fluid, but my friend says that I don't have to fill anything. Who's right?

I have a '99 Saturn Coupe with 102,000 miles on it. I knew I needed an oil change because of the mileage I have driven, but the oil light did not come on so I assumed everything was fine. I have not noticed clouds of smoke around me or anything like that, but today when I took it to CarX they said they couldn't find any major leaks and they thought it was probably burning a lot of oil because they only were able to drain around a quart of oil. If it has been 5,000 miles or so since my last oil change, assuming everything was topped off at that time, how bad is this? And, would running my car to the Low Fuel light effect this in any way?

I see answers that I KNOW are wrong, misleading, and in NO way are the right answer, but yet they get voted as best answer! Should a person waste their time to answer a question, only to have it shot down? Once a question goes into voting, you can no longer make any comments, even when you can prove the answer getting the most votes is WRONG! This is not fair to the person who asked the question, as they don't know the correct answer to begin with. If it was an opinion type answer fine, but a technical question that is going to cause someone to get hurt, or damage to their vehicle, then being able to prove them wrong should be an option. Three questions come to mind; one on a rearend ratio, one on an EGR valve, and one that would cause a big fire on a fuel injection system. They had information backing up their answer from a totally different system! Go figure?

1995 Honda Accord...Has been overheating for the last couple of weeks. Had the radiator replaced, and the thermostat replaced, and STILL it was overheating. Took it back to the mechanic, who said the pressure was good, and he could not duplicate the overheating. I've found, that when driving WITH THE CD PLAYER ON, the temp gauge creeps up over halfway. Previous to these problems, the temp gauge never read over a quarter. With the stereo off...no problems, with it on...overheating. Does this make sense? What's the easiest way to fix? Where/who should I take it to? And how much MORE am I looking at? I'd like to be able to listen to the stereo on long drives... :(

I am planning to open a franchise business that specializes in specific types of automobile repair. There are a number of territories in the U.S. still available. What specific areas of the country or cities might ifind the highest percentage of older cars still on the road (assuming that these would be the cars requiring the most frequent repair services)?

I have a 1984 Ford LTD Crown Vic w/ 302 V8. Runs rough, yet I might use for basic cargo hauler. (Kind of a cheap truck ??)...Anyways, heater inlet/outlet hoses been redirected and cut. Inquiries tell me core could be bad. I hooked up hoses and ran it. Did leak...big time. So I put some "Dyke" radiator treatment in coolant system. Seems to have slowed leak. Here's the question. Anyone out there had similar problem. Maybe used this stuff or something that worked real good? Thanks.

My dad and I have an used BMW 525i. We bought it with over 250km and haven't had this idling problem until last week (we've owned it since late june). I've noticed that after I take it for a drive and put it into park, the tachometer will rev up and down continually. I'm wondering if it's likely to be a problem with the ICV or maybe something else? Also note that the weather here is currently cold (Toronto, Canada). Smart-*** answers will get an immediate thumbs down. Thanks for your help in advance!

I was driving my car and it over heated. I pulled over as soon as I could get somewhere to stop (approx. 1 min) as a pulled into a parking lot all the lights in the car came on and it stalled. I saw very, very light white smoke coming from the hood for maybe 1 min. I saw that I was completely out of coolant and replaced it! I let the car cool and then started it back up. The car sounded a little ruspy when starting but then was fine. I drove 5 minute and the temp raised again. Checked the coolant and it already seemed low so I replaced it again. After 20 mins I started the car again it seemed ok and 10 min down the road it began again. I pulled into a car dealership service station and had them take a look. At this point it didn't sound to healthy but wasn't loud. The heat was completely topped off (no smoke). Coolant flew out of the radiator when they took it off. Nothing looked like it was leaking, but again the coolant was gone. I have a 96 Chevy Monte Carlo. Please help!
