I see answers that I KNOW are wrong, misleading, and in NO way are the right answer, but yet they get voted as best answer! Should a person waste their time to answer a question, only to have it shot down? Once a question goes into voting, you can no longer make any comments, even when you can prove the answer getting the most votes is WRONG! This is not fair to the person who asked the question, as they don't know the correct answer to begin with. If it was an opinion type answer fine, but a technical question that is going to cause someone to get hurt, or damage to their vehicle, then being able to prove them wrong should be an option. Three questions come to mind; one on a rearend ratio, one on an EGR valve, and one that would cause a big fire on a fuel injection system. They had information backing up their answer from a totally different system! Go figure?

Nickname4 you are dead on! Something outght to be done, and if enough people pull together something can be done. I hate the way this is ran, and there is nothing fair about you or I typing for half the day to only get shot down by an answer that you know for a fact is wrong. I like playing this game, but if I'm going to be used and discredited like this, where is the fun in it? I can hover over some of them and see thousands of points just this week. We all know what they do!

The system is what the system is. Yes it could be improved, but until that time I just give the best answer I can on subjects I think I know something about. After I answer a question I never go back to monitor it. The fun is in answering questions to the best of my ability. Why beat yourself over the head about the outcome. Yes I can understand your concern about a potentially dangerous situation but as suggested if I see something that I think is critical ( I am an RN ) I email the person to reinforce my answer. Which is usually go to the ER at once.

well from experience I picked a best answer to one of my questions because like you said I didnt know the answer and the one that made most sense to me I picked. It was about dog training. Well I got an email the next day from a dog trainer that pleaded me not to use the advice I marked as best answer. To this day we still keep contact. I was greatfull that this person took the time to write to me and let me know I made a bad choice. So If I were you I would do just that email them and tell them.

most of the time the asker will vote for a best answer if it is suitable enough. when it goes to voting the asker usually puts it behind them and it doesn't really matter after that. but i agree on the voting for yourself thing both ways. it is cheating to vote for yourself but i hate seeing in voting tiebreaker 2 weeks ago on my answers page all the time. especially when there is only one answer and the vote is against the no best answer.

Wrong answers get chosen because you can vote for your own answer. Once a question is put to a vote it is possible to vote on your own aswer! People dont care if they are wrong, they just want the points for themselves. You just have to hope the asker didnt take the bad advice!

I really do agree with that. I feel like I'm wasting my time answering questions sometimes, when I see dreadful answers being voted as the best. It's really annoying.

The best thing to do is also google the answer you received, and see if the information is correct.

Sometimes the asker, for some reason, picks it or if they don't others choose. You get 1 point for voting for best answer so I guess some people vote for the points and don't really look at the answer.

You knew it was wrong they didn't and pobably voted their own for the best answer for the 10 points. You can do that if you want to, but to me personally I could care less its all in fun.

Even you should know that whatever anyone responds here is "at your own risk" if you decide to follow their instructions. I personally don't take into consideration the responses I get here, I just read them to kill some free time. I think that anyone who asks a question should, out of courtesy, choose a best answer, regardless of if it helped them or not.

Nah, I wrote a retort to a woman that was bashing men, (It was very funny I might add), someone reported it as abuse, they yanked my ans. off, then I see my retort used by someone else in the form of a question. It's "Yahoo" or "RETARD CENTRAL" take your pick but, they are one in the same ! Don't forget you are dealing with cross sections of society, that includes the "shut In's, non-workers, and retards, freaks"
