1995 Honda Accord...Has been overheating for the last couple of weeks. Had the radiator replaced, and the thermostat replaced, and STILL it was overheating. Took it back to the mechanic, who said the pressure was good, and he could not duplicate the overheating. I've found, that when driving WITH THE CD PLAYER ON, the temp gauge creeps up over halfway. Previous to these problems, the temp gauge never read over a quarter. With the stereo off...no problems, with it on...overheating. Does this make sense? What's the easiest way to fix? Where/who should I take it to? And how much MORE am I looking at? I'd like to be able to listen to the stereo on long drives... :(

Okay, sarcastic remarks aside. I agree, it doesn't make much sense that my stereo might be causing this, except for the fact that when the stereo is powered off, the gauge reads even, when the stereo is powered on, the temp gauge starts to climb and doesn't stop until I turn off the stereo.

stereo cannot make your car over heat or effect the engine temperature at all.

you answered your own question by what you stated. you know why the mechanic couldn't find the same over heating? cause you think the needle is suppose to stay down at 1/4 all the time...well when the thermostat opens and closes that needle is gonna move, plus it will move depending on temp outside, elevation above sea level you are at and even if you have water or antifreeze in the radiator.

to think a radio can effect temperature on a car is like saying a dog walking through a field in Utah will make a hurricane appear in Florida......impossible.

It is a 10+ years old baby! If you keep the stereo on all the time you drive, it is indeed a possible cause for overheating!

Your temperature gauge may be damaged, or the cd player lines are crossed with the temp guage lines. If there is no sign of over heating besides the gauge, then that is probably it.

yes, any electricity use (ex. fan/heating system, radio, gps etc.) can overload the car and cause overheating.

Mechanically, maybe your car isn't overheating. It could be an electrical short somewhere that, when your cd player is on, causes your gauge to move. I dunno.
