I have a Chevolet celebrity im not sure on the year. My gear shift gauge doesnt work so I really dont kno what gear im in unless I feel for the clicks. I could live wih it but I want to know how much it cost.

Chances are the cable that hooks up your gear shift indicator is broken or has come off. You should be able to take the cover off and see what's wrong with it if it's floor mounted.
If it's steering column mounted you can remove the bottom cover and see the cable I'm talking about. The cable should have a clip on it and attaches to the outer rim of the steering column. The cable also goes around a little plastic half pulley. It might have hopped off that too.
If it's not broken and fell off you can reattach it. You may need to relocate the clip a few times to get it lined up to the proper gear your in. But it's not that hard unless its' broken.

You can do it yourself and get the parts at your local junkyard. Very cheap(15-30 bucks) plus an extra 15-20 for the manual at a car parts place. May seem like a lot for the manual, but you'll save a ton every time you use it.

More than the car is Worth. No take off the dash and it is a Little cable 6.00 should do it for You.
