Try it once, you don't have anything to lose. If you can get some bikini-clad ladies to help you out, you might do alright. Or wear a bikini yourself.

I have noticed a lot of people don't have car washes anymore. I sounds like a good idea, but I don't think you will actually make enough for college funds. Been there done the college fund. I got into a direct selling business so that I could schedule my own hours then when I finished college and The Pampered Chef paid me more than Corporate America with a college degree I stuck with The Pampered Chef. I am now older and The Pampered Chef is my job and I love it. =) email me if you wanna check into it for yourself.

Yes, I think it shows initiative, and it is paid work just like a fast food place is. Plus the fact that your friends are supporting you by helping (I assume) is a visible vote of confidence. As a consumer, I would find you more credible if your car wash sign briefly stated your school start date, intended major, and any other way to show that is what you are using it for. Of course if you aren't looking for generous over payments, that would not be so much an issue. Getting an official nod, such as verified support of an alumni group or Campus Club might be helpful.

well you are offering a service and people are paying for it. i don't see the problem as long as you don't make a habit out of it, in which case it would be in danger of becoming a money-making business and you'd have to report it!
