I have this motor in a 56 ford f100. out of a 73 torino. i want to find the perfect timing for the motor at an altitude of 4500 feet. I just put a Flowmaster exhaust set up on and I don't seem to get the same performance out of the motor that I did before.

Disconnect the vacuum line, adjust the idle to the correct speed (800 RPM neutral/park) and set the ignition timing to 6° BTDC. This should do you very nicely. If there is "Ping" under heavy acceleration, back it up 2 degrees to 4° BTDC.

Good Luck

at an altitude of 4500 feet meaning ur near some moutains u want more timing not less stock is 10 degrees btdc i would go 12 however the gentleman is right listen for a ping if it pings back it off in high altitudes oxygen is less dense as there is less of it and less pressure so the car should run rich the more fuel u have less air give it alittle timing
