i just took my 1989 ford festiva to the shop do to a wrapping or ticking noise in the engine, the guy told me the engine is shot and he wanted $10,000 to fix it, he said if were to just buy another car i would have to deal with this same repair in about 3-5 years anyhow because all the cars arent taken care of anymore and are junk.

It seems like factory car batteries have short life. I'm amazed that my battery lasted for 3 and a half years. So is that the exact time frame these batteries last?

I need to know if you have suggestions for what i should do to prepare my vehicle (a toyota pesao & a dodge caravan, both w/ 200,000 miles) for a long road trip... or, i might be selling one & driving the other... or, is it possible to tow one behind the other for that distance?

So, what is the best thing to do, (given that I haven't decided whether to sell, drive, tow...) when it comes to the repair/prepare issue?

I seriously could use your input here!! and
Thank you so much for helping me out!!

I have a Ford Mustang and it has a standard transmission. Every time I turn, switch gears or just push in the clutch there is a whinning noise. I think it might have something to do with a bearing (front). Is that what it is?

My 95 v8 Jeep Grand Cherokee was leaking coolant, it was coming out in a stream, not just drops. I replaced the water pump and it still leaked. I looked at the upper hose, and it had a crack in it where the coolant was coming out. Replaced it. It still leaked. The old bottom hose was leaking where it connects to the new water pump. I replaced it. It still leaks where it connects to the pump. I used the screw type clamps as opposed to the clip type clamps. Any suggestions on what I can do to stop the leak between the bottom hose and the water pump?

I have a small (.5 centimeter) chip in the paint on my car (probably from an idiot neighbor opening his/her car door into mine, ugh)... I am planning to order a kit of paint touch-up pens (primer, basecoat, clearcoat) and try to fix it myself, since it is only about 2/3 the size of a pencil eraser. Do you guys think this is a good idea? I haven't done this before, but have been reading various "tips" on how to do it correctly... Any additional hints you can provide will be appreciated.

Ok, I have Toyota Corolla 2000 LE. It runs good, but there is one problem. At some point, the battery stops working. So, if I start the engine and drive around, then when I stop the car and try to start the engine again - there is no electricity because the battery is not responding. If I open the hood and move it around a little bit - it's back on. I think it loses contact at some point of time. It's a little bit loose and can move in all directions at least 1 inch. What should I do? Is it the battery, or maybe some wire? What would you suggest?

Thanks in advance!
