Ok The car has 87K miles on it. I just had the water pump replaced because it was leaking coolant. The light comes on when I start the car and stays on until the Temp gage reads around 180 degrees. I have been keeping an eye on the coolant level and it has not changed. Do I have a bad sensor or is there an air bubble? I also put stop leak in prior to getting my water pump replaced. Could this be causing a clog in the system somewhere? Please help me diagnose this and any suggestions on how to fix would be most appreciated.

CALLING ALL MECHANICS! Do I need a new clutch!?
My clutch froze up yesterday, it would go back and forth to the ground, but the gears were stuck. I'm assuming I need a new clutch and have no idea what it would cost!

The clutch was wearing down, you could feel it. The best way I can describe it as someone who knows very little about this sort of thing.. is that it felt as the the clutch came "unattached" so when I went to change gears, it seems as though the clutch wasn't pressed in at all.

Additional Details

It's a 2000 Nissan Maxima

The vehicle will not go into gear when it's running. There was a button down beside the clutch that when it was pressed in the vehicle would still start (the clutch needs to be in on my car in order for it to start)

I guess a worry of mine is that the transmission might be shot?

Someone said it might just be the cylinders.. is this possible?

I asked this question a week ago

I have a 97 ford taurus I am leaking oil. Not alot but enough when i park for awhile there is a stain under my car. My check engine light is on. That is all that I can tell is wrong with it. What is wrong with it and how much would it cost to fix?

When I left work today my car turned real slow like the battery was low on juice. The battery is only 1 year old. I stopped to work out then when i got back in the car it turned slow agian. It sounded like it wasnt going to start but then I pumped the gas and it started. When i stopped at home I got out and it smelled like burning oil or something like that coming from under my hood. What is going on I cant take my car in till next week. Is it safe to drive to work? Do I only have 1 or 2 more starts? Do I only have a few miles left I can drive? Please HELP!!!!

Hold the comments about dumb women drivers please... just because I don't know what goes on under the hood, doesn't mean I can't make the damn thing work!

First of all, the water pump is that hard to change. The pump itself is only 59.99 , but the dealership wants to charge 423.00 to fix it. I am not sure that it is even the pump, it is leaking. Could be the gasket. Not sure until we get it apart. But they want 175.00 for taken it apart.
ok second question is the compressor and cluch. to the A/C i do not think that the compressor is bad but the cluch makes a bad sound. When i have the A/C or heat on. But when it is off it makes no sound at all.
If anyone could help that would be great.
And before you say go to another dealership I checked 2 and just about the same price.

Upon inspection of the vehicle the mechanic decided that he needed to take the transmission apart to look at the clutch and replace some pads. I also needed a new timing belt and I would like for him to replace the belt while he is taking everything apart is that possible?

This is in a 1990 Chevy G20 Full size conversion. The light just came on one day, and the wierd thing is that when I actually press the emergency brake on, the brake light gets brighter, release it, it dims slightly.

I have a VW golf TDi 01. When i drive on the motorway i get a rubbing sound coming from the right hand side of the car when i steer left. I only have to do a gentle left to get the rubbing but when i drive straight or turn right, its fine. Also when i brake at any speeds, i get a severe shaking from the steering column and hence through the wheel. Im pretty sure its the front right wheel as that went bald alot quicker then the others. Also recently i have noticed that something is wrong with my front right suspension. Over any bumps it makes a concerning noise. When i shake the car up and down it makes a sounds like im rubbing metal on metal? Could it be this causing the rubbing and braking? I have look at other solutions and people say it mite be a rotor arm or something. I have replaced the discs and the tires etc but still does it. Please can anyone offer suggestions as to the problem please? Thanks

I posted about my coolant not getting back to radiator after engine cools down a few weeks back. I tried putting a new cap and observed for 2 weeks. Now I still loss coolant. There were things I failed to mention or maybe didn't notice then when I first popped the question.
1. If I let the engine run without the cap, i can see fine bubbles (foam) building up on the filler neck.
2. After turning off the engine and letting it sit overnight, the radiator is still pressurized. Turning the rad cap a quarter(loose but still locked on), a huge pressure is released on the sides of the cap and some goes and displaces the water in the reservoir.

Is this a sign of a huge head gasket failure coming?

I have a good looking 1997 Taurus SHO. But last week it started with a miss fire I think cause the engine starts moving and the car starts jerkingg a little everytime it does it the rpm thing goes down when its iddling but when your going like 45-60 miles per hour the car start jerking too. THis feels like its not getting gas i guess. Well any way I took the car to severl places one place put the big diagnostic machine on it and they said my computer is messed up cause they tried erasing the codes and they kept coming back up. = ( $79 ) Then in another place a mechanic told me it was the spark plugs so I had them changed. = ( $200 ) Then i took it to Autozone and they put the little code machine on it and they told me it was the Egr valve. = ( $49 ) Then i changed it And took it back to Autozone and it still marked the egr valve but now they told me it was going to be the vacum lines or somthing like that. I recalibrated the spark plugs to 0.044. ( 3hrs. ) The engine is till shaking.

The belt from my car's air conditioner was removed because it was making a weird noise. The guy told me that he'd need to order a new belt and I still haven't heard from him. Is this an easy fix? Can I just buy a belt and put it on myself? If so how do I do this? I've looked under the hood and see the wheel the belt goes on but I don't see where else it attaches. Are there specific instructions somewhere that can tell me what to do? Or should I just pay the 100+ bucks or so to have someone else do it?

Thanks!
