best thing to do is pay cash & ask if they can bill your purchase to a local shop and not to pay taxes.... ha ha ha. I do it all the time & save MAJOR money time & time again. Oh and a HEAD SET is best, it will include all intake, exhaust manifold and side gaskets so it don't leak oil after you are done. oh and purchase new head bolts from "felpro " they are NOT reusable in 99% of the engines. They get stretched out from the extreme heat. oh and use a "torque wrench & follow the bolt pattern instructons in the bolt kit. :o) good luck JP

For the cost and time involved with replacing a head gasket you really do not want to go cheap. If I had to pay $1500 to have someone tear my engine down to the head gasket, I certainly wouldnt want to have the guy install a $20 gasket when I could get a $50 one.

the man jmocaro he is the person to listen to. a head gasket can be as cheap as 12 dollars. however the case you will need alot more than that so get the kit. always felpro ceap and good!!!!!!!

You're going to buy the cheapest head gasket you can find? That way, you can do the job again when that one fails?
