Your brake power booster has malfunctioned. There is nothing wrong with your hydraulic lines or fluid. Check the vacuum hoses leading from the intake manifold and if all are intact then get your power booster looked at by a mechanic.

Another cause of the same symptom is seized brake calipers if you have disc brakes. Check the power booster first.

Sounds like you may have air trapped in the brake lines. You will have to bleed the air off befor the peddle feels wright. A simple task. Takes a 1/2 in or 3/8 open wrench. Make sure you replace the fluid each time you bleed it off.It will take two people to do this.

Check brake fluid and you probably need to bleed the break and get the air out of the line.

Check level of brake fluid, per directions in owners manual. Do it quick before you have a stopping emergency.

it could be 1 of 3 things
1) air in the cables. you will need 2 bleed this out (or take it to the garage)

2) The break fluid my need topping up, that's easy do!!

3) check that your breaks shoes and pads are in working order. if they seem low or show signs of metal to metal wear get them change ASAP as emergency breaking is out of the question.
good luck

ok its one of two things. take the hose loose coming from your brake booster to the valve cover. check and see if its clogged ifnot. then go to step 2.... where the hose connects to the booster. while running take hose loose and listen for air escaping from it. more than likely your booster is going bad.
