It shouldn't be; I just replaced the one on my SUV! Go by your local library and see if you can find a Chilton's or Haynes auto repair manual for your car and it should be a snap!

This is not a hard task on some engines.Just depends on your engine size and location of the valve. Cost for a do it your self should be about $50. In a shop this will cost you around $200 or less depending on the shop hourly rates. Get some quotes and then decide. Are you sure it is the EGR valve??

most of the time you can clean the egr valve and they only have 2 nuts and a vac-line. but first you should make sure it is the problem. with the motor running take you finger and lift the diaphragm up if the motor changes than it is more than likely the problem. some valves are powered and not vacuum operated in this case you should get a code.
good luck

The EGR valve is very easy to replace. It shouldn't cost very much. Under 20 dollars I would imagine.

egr valve on most cars is a simple fix. i would do it myself. but i have only replaced one. it was on a 1976 pacer and i replaced it in the mid 80s. it seems to me the valve was cheap around $ 10. but i still remember it only took me 5 or 10 minutes to replace it.
