What could be some possible causes/solutions?

if it happens to be a short how is that diagnosed..is it expensive?

My '04 does the same thing. Except mine is always black.
I doubt there is a fix, just replace it.

this is possibly caused by the wiring harness on the back of the radio and it might be a little loose ,,not plugged in all the way will cause this,,you may have to take it and have it checked,,it should be under warranty still,,so id let the dealer do it,,this way its free,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

have you tried adjusting your dimmer switch on the dashboard. Is it the radio only or all of the gauges? Take it to a dealer if this is not the case
