Can someone please explain to me the importance of the type of exhaust system that you have. I'm having trouble understanding why people always upgrade to performance exhaust systems. I'm trying to learn all I can about cars! Where's a good to place to start if I want to get a better exhaust?

I drive a 98 ford escort se, and need to know where I can find a diagram for the serpentine belt set up because it was completely off when i popped the hood. Also any other advice would be welcome. The hesitation is like a hiccup or slippage. But it is happening with regularity in the power curve between 1500 and 2000 rpms, and from 40-50 mph. It only happens, though when I am going up hill and have to give her some gas to maintain speed. I dont feel the trans downshifting.

If it is a transmission issue (the trans is an automatic), is this a sign I will need a full blown replacement or is it an adjustmet type of issue? If not a transmission problem, what could it be? THANK YOU FOR RESPONDING!!!

It's very strange: the battery is fully charged and all eletrical components work when the key is in the 'on' position. But, sometimes, when the key is turned to 'start' to crank, she turs right over and other times, nothing besides the hum of the ignition switch. Is it the starter solenoid and, if so, can it be replaced without replacing the entire starter? (It looks like it's possible, but I'd like to get a warning if not)

Also, I have explored other possibilities, including the position of the transimission shifter, to no avail...

Help!!

My mechanic, a supposedly reliable guy, told me that this is what he would need to charge to fix my air conditioner. He said he would have to take the whole front off to get to the leaking part. Is this possible? Also, if I recharge the air conditioner, will it give me anything at all?

I have a 1971 1210 2x4 pickup with a 304 v8. I'm having problems with the trans I'm thinking of replacing it but it maybe cheaper just to re build it. If I do replace it what would be the best trans for work and highway?

My right turn signal blinks fast. I went to auto parts store and they sold me a fuse looking thing but I do not know where it goes. I have a96 Olds Acheiva. I looked at the fuse panel but all those are normal fuses. there is a fuse box under the hood by the battery and those looked likes the same size but could not make out where it goes if it truely goes there.

I own a 1995 mustang cobra and when i first got it, it was wonderful, no probs. around 2 weeks ago, the battery just died. so i had it towed to my mechanic. they charged the battery back up, and hooked it up to a bunch of machines to see what had drained it. they had it hooked up for a full day and tested everything and yet nothing showed up. my mechanic didnt have a clue what had done it. so i had my car alarm disconnected as well as my cd player, just to be cautious. it has driven fine since then until 2 days ago, it has done it again. i hooked some jumper cables up to it so i could atleast start it and get to the mechanic to preferrably put a new battery in it, but the jumper cables and a big truck can't even charge the battery enough to start it. does anyone know what might be causing this?

My air conditioner doesn't work anymore. Something had come unplugged and all of the "coolant liquid" is gone. My boyfriend or one of the many willing to help me people said they could fix this if I buy the liquid to go in there. Is what I need Freon, or Refrigerant? What is the difference?

I just got a new car. I'm doing everything I can to clean it up. When I was cleaning out the trunk I found a lot of what looks to be hot glue. It is all over the trunk. Does anybody have any ideas of how to get it out? Or what products I can use?
