My air conditioner doesn't work anymore. Something had come unplugged and all of the "coolant liquid" is gone. My boyfriend or one of the many willing to help me people said they could fix this if I buy the liquid to go in there. Is what I need Freon, or Refrigerant? What is the difference?

Freon IS the refrigerant. But, your old refrigerant leaked out for a reason; you need to take the vehicle to someone who knows what they are doing and has the proper equipment to inspect your system, test for leaks, repair them, and then use the proper equipment to refill your Freon level to the right pressure for your particular vehicle and compressor. Otherwise you are wasting money just buying Freon as it is expensive and might just leak out again. Don't throw good money after bad...do it right the first time. Take it to a good mechanic and let them inspect the system.

Hope this helped.

Coolant is anti-freeze, and it's what helps keep your engine cool. It really has nothing to do with your air conditioning. Refrigerant is the stuff that goes through your air conditioning system under pressure changing from high to low pressure to pull the heat out of your car. It is not related to the coolant for your engine at all. Freon and Refrigerant are the same thing though.
Older cars use R12, and newer cars use 134a.

There are all kinds of refrigerants. Freon is a brand name of refrigerants marketed by Dupont I believe.
