I have a 1971 1210 2x4 pickup with a 304 v8. I'm having problems with the trans I'm thinking of replacing it but it maybe cheaper just to re build it. If I do replace it what would be the best trans for work and highway?

There were so many transmissions installed in International Trucks in those years. You did not state manual 3or 4 speed or automatic. If it is an automatic the chances are it is a GM Turbo 350. If it is a manual crawl under the truck and look for the metal ID tag on the trans. If it is missing you can attempt to translate the VIN at an International Truck dealer.

I own a 1972 1210 with a 345. Both of the transmissions I own are T-98 4 speed.
