I own a 1995 mustang cobra and when i first got it, it was wonderful, no probs. around 2 weeks ago, the battery just died. so i had it towed to my mechanic. they charged the battery back up, and hooked it up to a bunch of machines to see what had drained it. they had it hooked up for a full day and tested everything and yet nothing showed up. my mechanic didnt have a clue what had done it. so i had my car alarm disconnected as well as my cd player, just to be cautious. it has driven fine since then until 2 days ago, it has done it again. i hooked some jumper cables up to it so i could atleast start it and get to the mechanic to preferrably put a new battery in it, but the jumper cables and a big truck can't even charge the battery enough to start it. does anyone know what might be causing this?

Car batteries do have to be replaced from time to time. If your 1995 mustang still has the original battery, then it's had a pretty good run and probably just needs to be replaced. If you continue to have trouble with it after replacing the battery, then the problem is most likely your alternator.
Frankly, I'm surprised your mechanic didn't mention replacing the battery. The computer tests should have shown a problem with the alternator if that is where the problem lies and with lack of a better diagnosis, replacing the battery is a clear answer. You might consider trying another mechanic.

Has anyone checked the alternator. It may not be charging the battery properly or providing an inadequate charge. Even though the battery lite is not showing up dosen't mean that alternator is good. Autozone and Advance Auto Parts will do free alternator/battery testing. They take out a special machine and hook it up to the car and run the engine. There could also be poor connections or cooroded wires between the alterantor and battery.

Sounds like your alternator has gone south. You have probably been driving the car on the battery power all this time, which drained the battery totally and now it wont hold a charge. Your mechanic should have fiigured this out if he was any good.
Have someone change the alternator and get a new battery. That shuold solve your problem

As the former owner of a 1995 Mustang... Your car is a piece of junk. Get a new battery. In fact, get a new car. Has your head gasket blown yet? If not, consider yourself lucky. Mine blew and left me stranded on the middle of a highway. FYI, it all started with a dead battery.... however, the good news is that most Mustangs from 95 are under a manufacturers recall, you should check that out to see if it is part of the problem. Good luck!

either the battery is dead or you have a bad alternator. the alternator charges the battery back up as you drive.

sounds like you got a dead cell in your battery,or your alternator is not charging it fully.
