First off (not exactly sure about this), I've heard that in some states in the US the minimum age for obtaining a driver's license is 15, and 14 for your permit. If this is true, (please ignore this question and simply correct me if it's not) then would it be possible to obtain your license there at age 15, even though you live in a state that requires an age of 16, and use that license to drive in other states that would normally require the age of 16? I.E. your home state.

I have had a car on "loan" (perminent) at the house, I needed to use it to get to work, as a situation arose where I could not use my truck.
1.5 miles from home, I rear ended the person infront of me, (foot slipped from break) at a yield sign.
I was going 5 mph. The vehicle I was driving was a 80's light truck - the grille and head lamps got smooshed. Driver #2 was driving a big huge suburban.
pulled over, police came, report was written - it was discovered the insurance was lapsed on my friends truck. CRUD!
I let the officer and the driver know that I would be happy to take care of anything that need to be done, so, all was OK.
Driver #2 , The officer and I saw no visable damage to her SUV.
I said, have it checked out, and let me know.
I get a phone call from Driver #2 - with a 750.00 estimate on her bumper. Remember no visable damage.
What should I do from here, I have Insurance on my Vehicle, but what if this estimate is for esthetics? Shouldnt her insurance contact me?

I've recently encountered my second hit-and-run instance, and unfortunately my car is somewhat expensive to repair. So, I'm wondering if I should submit a claim with my insurance company to repair it, or try to fix it on my own. I'm told that a hit-and-run isn't a point against me, but that the insurance company may still find reason to raise my rates.

I had to SORN my car in the summer as it needed some work done to it for its MOT and i couldn't afford it. I have stored the car on private property at my work, but i have the cash now to repair it. What are the legalities of moving it from my work to the garage that are working on it. Garage is less than a mile away from my work.

I just found some old license plates lying in a toolshed in my backyard. They are Ontario plates from 1979 and 1980. This was before Ontario even used stickers on plates. Obviously, the plates are expired. The previous owner must have just tossed them into the shed and forgot about them.

By happy coincidence, I just bought a car. Can I put one of these plates on my car, take it to the MTO and register it? Will they give me a 2008-9 sticker to put on the plate?

If not, why not?

If I am going to register the plate using my real name, address, etc., then what is the problem?

I think it would be cool to have one of these old plates on my car. So is there some way I can work around the rules and legally get these plates back into the system?

Hey, it's good for the environment. They won't have to produce a brand new plate.

Is it true that your insurance company can refuse to cover you if you didn't have possession of your card in the car at the time of the accident? This is what I was told by a police officer at the scene. (I have a valid insurance policy, but I just didn't have the card there.)

I was recently involved in an accident. We were hit from behind by a grand am and then pushed into the vehicle in frot of us. The police report explicitly states this as well as the other 4 people and myself. However, the two young(16-20y/o) kids that were in front of us, say we hit them first. The insurance company of the grand am believes the two young people and pretty much over looks the police report and says that they will pay for 65% of car and medical damages.

We dont want to take this to court for fear of a lawyer putting us back more than we would be if we just took a loss and settled directly.

Anyone with some legal experience/ some similiar experience care to offer some advice?

I hit a car going around 5mph and it left two small cracks on both sides of the bumper, and the bumper is a few CM from its original position. There was no damage to my car and everything is still ok on the other car (cept for the small crack)
how much do u think it will cost to repair and should i get the insurance companies involved?

I was in New York city 2 weekends ago visiting friends and parked my car in an overnight garage (it cost $50.00). When I got my car the next day, I noticed that it was scraped on the side, not major, but definitely obvious that the car was hit by the guy that parks the cars. The guy refused to admit that he did it, was really being very tricky about the whole thing and refused to sign a written statement as he refused to admit anything. He only said that the car was "probably" hit in his garage. Well, I just received a letter from the garage company, and they said that they have spoken to the car attendant, he denied doing it, so it must have happened before I got there. This is a complete lie!!

What can I do? I mean, it is my word vs. another guys. My brother was there and witnessed the guy saying it "probably" happened in the garage. Any advice?

I was in a car accident no police report was filed. It was not my car and I don't have insurance, however the owner of the car does. So what is the statue for filing a police report. Also am I still responsible for the damages even though I wasn't at fault and might not be covered on the car insurance.
