I hit a car going around 5mph and it left two small cracks on both sides of the bumper, and the bumper is a few CM from its original position. There was no damage to my car and everything is still ok on the other car (cept for the small crack)
how much do u think it will cost to repair and should i get the insurance companies involved?

The cost to repair a bumper cover could easily bee $350.00 -500.00. That's assuming its a smooth bumper that cover that can be repaired and painted. If it's a black textured bumper cover, then it will probably have to be replaced.

Talk to your agent - they may be able to tell you how filing a claim would affect your policy.

Also - if the owner of the other car does not want to settle with you directly but wants to file with your insurance company then you have to turn the claim in.

When in doubt - turn the claim in.

The cost of car repair can easily get to a thousand dollars today. If the accident is like you described then the repairs may be very predictable and there would be only a small chance of additonal damage(maybe some brackets). You may wish to take it to be appraised and ask if they aniticpate additional damage.

But as the other post stated... you would owe a rental
additional damage is possible(brackets, absorbers).

The best thing is to use your insurance and let them handle it unless you know the other person will not get it fixed, then it may be appropriate to make an offer and get them so sign a release(just write something out)

absolutely get them involved.

Even REPAIRING a bumper cost close to a thousand dollars. Did you also know you would owe them a rental? What if they get repairs done and later telly ou they need additional work?

or what if they say they are fine now and a year down the road they claim injury after youve paid out of pocket.

Please think long and hard before you put yourself in that position.
