I was in New York city 2 weekends ago visiting friends and parked my car in an overnight garage (it cost $50.00). When I got my car the next day, I noticed that it was scraped on the side, not major, but definitely obvious that the car was hit by the guy that parks the cars. The guy refused to admit that he did it, was really being very tricky about the whole thing and refused to sign a written statement as he refused to admit anything. He only said that the car was "probably" hit in his garage. Well, I just received a letter from the garage company, and they said that they have spoken to the car attendant, he denied doing it, so it must have happened before I got there. This is a complete lie!!

What can I do? I mean, it is my word vs. another guys. My brother was there and witnessed the guy saying it "probably" happened in the garage. Any advice?

tough luck. its a case of hee said she said unless you have verified proof that the damage happened in that garage then like dated photos etc.
i'd cut your losses and live with it; but bad mouth the garage at every opportunity. so if a downturn in business will prick their conscience

It's word vs word. There is nothing to brake the tie. Why is your word worth more than his? See the problem. You have to have proof that the parking attended caused the damage.

If your car was just parked in the garage - no parking attendant/valet that drove the car - then the garage is not responsible if you park your car their and another vehicle hits it.

Contact your insurance company and find out if you have coverage under your own policy to pay for the damage.

There may be cameras in the parking areas that could have solved the problem for you, but by waiting 2 weeks that evidence is probably gone by now. Next time report it immediately to your insurance and let them work their magic.

you said it yourself. this is a word vs word situation.

you have absolutely NO WAY to prove your car wasnt damaged before you parked it there therefore you are out of luck.

Suck it up.. quit wasting your time.. and just pay for the damages.
