It may not - check with your gap carrier.

Your standard auto policy specifically excludes coverage while the car is in Mexico. So your personal automobile policy will not cover you in Mexico.

Let's see....GAP is contingent upon you have collision insurance and a valid insurance policy in place at the time. Even though your own auto policy "MAY" (operative word here) extend coverage a few miles past the Mexican border, the Mexican officials don't consider it valid coverage nor do they care your auto policy was written in the States---hope you have Mexican auto insurance if you drive into Mexico. Also, you have to have written permission from your finance company to take their car into Mexico, and they wont allow you too unless you have purchased Mexican insurance.

GAP insurance has to do with the financing of your car. It has nothing to do with liability.

Nothing covers your car in Mexico except for thieves.
