its just a scratch !
300$ is a big deal..because i keep paying for even breathing Air !
and the guy even didn't see me scratch his car..i was polite to seek him and tell him am sorry for that !
i guess i should pay for being polite and pay for a tiny scratch !

That's not really unreasonable -

If the only damage is a scratch- that went through the clear coat - then you have to paint the entire door - that involves de-trimming the door (removing the side view mirror, belt moldings, side molding, door handle, lock cylinder, interior trim panel). Then the paint gets blended into the adjacent panels (in the case of a front door - blend the paint back into the rear door, de-trim it and forward into the fender).

If the scratch did not go through the clear coat then it should be able to be buffed out.

Ask the man to give you a copy of the estimate for the repair of the vehicle.

i hope you dont think thats unreasonable.. that is NOTHING for repairs.

I mean.. its up to you. Please be aware of the possible consequences of paying out of pocket. What if there is a supplement? are you prepared to handle that? You realize you owe him a rental right?

Personally id turn it into insurance.. but thats just me.

EDIT: YES.. its just a scratch. and scratches are expensive to repair! Im not saying its NOT alot of money. Im saying that repairs are expensive.

So your telling me that you shouldnt have to pay it? OF COURSE YOU SHOULD! I cant believe your acting like you regret tellnig him- any decent person who doesnt want criminal punishment would tell! "i have to pay for being polite"- ha... acting like your the victim here. Now your just being as bad as someone who leaves the scene! Your acting like you should be REWARDED and that the victim shouldnt get their full repairs done simple b/c you were a good person and told. Do you hear yourself talkign?

If you dont wanna pay that much- tell insurance. Its that simple. What on earth did you think it would cost? You made a mistake.. now you owe for it. its not the end of the world. geesh.

Well, duh...do you expect HIM to pay for it? $300 is about right to repair, refinish and blend. Either file it with your insurance or pay the man.
