I am purchasing a parts truck to pull the motor and transmission from to put in another truck i have. The parts truck is a 1986 F250, and its body is only worth scrap metal. I plan on also removing the axles to hang onto, and after that, all that's left is a rusty frame, springs, and a rusty cab and bed. The front fenders are already gone.
The guy selling it to me has the title and insists on transferring it to me, but as i plan on never EVER driving or licensing this vehicle, do i just take the title and never sign it to my name? Or do i need to sign it to my name, so once i've stripped the truck to its frame and worthless parts, ready for the scrap metal scale, i can then sign the title over to the junkyard?
How do i buy this vehicle and part it out, leaving scrap metal that i'm not sure even is worthy of holding a title? Does the title go on record as "DESTROYED" and all i have is simple steel, or does my scrap iron still need me to pay for plates until it hits the heap?
