Take them to an appraiser. You should be able to find a sports card place in your area that can appraise them. Then DRIVE over to your insurance agent and add them to your home insurance policy. (see, I made the link between your cards, automobiles, and insurance) :-D

They are not worth much at all. Buy a beckett's football price guide. Commons which are most of the cards sell for about $8-$10 for 5000 cards. Unless you are loaded with all mint very, very, rare cards, you are in for a rude awakening.

Baseball/football cards aren't worth squat compared to what they used to be, unless you have some especially rare/vintage ones. The old cards are worth something because kids didn't realize they would be worth something one day and beat them up and threw them out. For several decades now people have been buying whole sets and practically sealing them in Lucite, so there aren't many truly "rare" cards from mid-80s up. Check out eBay for idea of what you might get for yours.

Recycling centers will give you a handshake for them.
Unless they are all rare cards - about .05 cents each on average.
But it depends on what cards
