My brother recently purchased a Ford focus from a private dealer in Stockton. He has now had someone from a finance company ringing him to say there is an amount owed on the vehicle. He has been back in touch with the seller who has told him he got it from an auction and it was clear of finance at that point. What steps would my brother now have to take to clear this problem up

I've been with the same company almost five years. My car insurance is renewed every six months, after I make the required renewal deposit. Like clockwork, I receive the new payment coupons, and temporary insurance card. However, I don't get the permanent insurance card and new policy stating the value of my vehicle, until almost a month later. Sometimes longer. Is this legal? If so, why does it take so long for the agent to issue the new policy, and how will this effect me if I ever disagree with what's in the policy?

someone hit me hard enough in the left arm to rebreak it. The problem is that it was a girl. So, I took my right arm (the good one), and slammed her to the ground where I pummelled her til the point of an ambulance having to come to get her. They never arrested me because there were enough witnesses there in my favor. The question is was it wrong just because it was a girl.... I feel bad about it being a girl but she INTENTIONALLY hit me in my broken arm. So come on, didn't she have it coming? I want answers from BOTH sides. Thx.

I'm from Canada and you need to exchange your driver's license from one province to another when changing residency. The stupid part is that you need to show 2 pieces of id for the original driver's license and then again when you update for a different province. If you don't have a second piece of id like a valid passport or citizenship card, you can't get a driver's license, or insure a car!

How stupid is that?!

I called my parent's insurance company to get a quote because I am a newly licensed driver. I found the rate to be more than 1,000. I said thanks and good bye. Since the amount was so high, I decided to not drive at all.
A few days later I recieve a bill stating I am on the policy. I called to cancel and they said that in NJ, any licensed driver in a household must be added on to a policy.

Now I am stuck with a bill. Does anyone know if this is New Jersey state law or not?

I was hit really hard from behind causing me to slide in the back of a car. My car was a total loss the other driver told the police she had a problem with her brakes. Her insurance company cut me a decent check for my totalled car. A month later I began to feel pain and started going to the chiropracter. He then gave me the scoop on on contacting an attorney to get a case with her insurance company. The first year they tried to settle with me a little money, I refused. The second yr they did the same with a slight increase. Now its time for mediation; to settle the case and I don't know what to expect. My lawyer will be negotiating with the drivers lawyer im suffering from neck and back problems.

For some time now, I had been looking at subaru imprezas, of which I love. However, each insurance quote I got from my parents was something like 3400 a year under my dad, and close to 8,000 a year under my own policy, with collision, so my parents wouldnt even consider it. The quote was for an 04, so if it is that insane I dont see how some kids own 03s, 04s, even a few 07s, as my parents arent poor by any means, and I know all the other kids do not have rich parents. Even an 02 accord with 80k miles was over 3000 a year under my dad with collision. Is there any possible way I can get a nice car, something like an 02 impreza is ideal, without paying so much insurance with collision? I am perfectly aware of the fact that if I get a 95 civic with no collision, insurance wont b a problem. However, I have some hard earned money to spend on a car, and I cant see how I am constantly heading towards the single path of a bucket without collision. Please help me

My 10 year old son was riding his motorbike (i know he shouldnt be) on the footpath. When a car started to reverse out of a driveway and hit my son. My son tells me that he saw the car and braked but the car then stopped and he looked to see the driver talking to the owner of the house and so let go of the brake and continued on as he did so the driver of the car reversed and hit him. damage to my son is minimal and damage to the bike is in the middle of the bike. (engine area). The driver of the car came to my house the day after he hit my son and handed me a bill for damage to his car. when i said that i refuse to pay it he intimidated me and threatened me. Who is at fault. Is my son at fault? would it be the same if it was just his push bike? or is the driver of the reversing car at fault? What should i do?

I was in an accident where the second vehicle is registered in Michigan (a no-fault state) and the driver has no-fault (Michigan) insurance. I don't have collision insurance, I only have liability. Since we were in New Hampshire at the time, is the Michigan driver liable for my damages (he was 100% at fault)?
His insurance company wouldn't let me file a claim with them since Michigan is no-fault state - they said the insured has to file the claim himself.
What's the law on this? Can I sue the driver and/or his insurance?

I am a New Jersey driver under my parent's insurance. I am 19 years old and i just got a ticket for supposedly running a stop sign. Which I am positive i did not do since i had seen the cop at the corner. I am not dumb enough to run a stop sign if i see the cop there. Anyway he gave me a ticket for running the stop sign and i would just like to know if i just plead guilty and pay the fine instead of going to court and dealing with all the court fees and all, would my insurance go up, and if so, how much?
