Here in the US, you have to change it from state to state if you are changing residency, and we have the same 2 ID issue, but we also have Social Security cards, so to get a new ID, all I would have to do is show them my old DL, and my SS card, and I would be done. Now states also vary as to whether or not you need to take a test or not when switching residency.

In the US you can drive anywhere in the country with your drivers license. BUT if you change states you are required to get a new license in the new state of residency. They also require two forms of ID, a passport, greencard, or birth certificate in addition to your drivers license from your previous state.

ID requirements are being tightened up all over. It's a new world since 9/11. You have to be able to prove who you are. If you had id to get your original licence you should be able to produce id if you move to another province or state. The person who answered a US licence is good in all states, misread the question. A US or Canadian licence is good for visitors and temporary residents in all provinces or states, but you need a new licence if you move to another province or state.

We can drive anywhere in the States with one State's license. If we move permanently we need to get a new one. If you live in 2 states ( like some people live in florida all winter ), you pick one as the permanent residence, usually where you spend the most time.

Your Province's are like our States. We can drive anywhere in the U.S. but if we move from one state to another, we have to change as well. Yup, two forms of I.D. can be a pain, however, we are allowed to use our Social Security card as a form of I.D or a birth certificate. The stricter guidelines pretty much stem from 9-11. Many of the Canadian regulations are the same as here.

Yes you can drive anywhere in the country as long as you are visiting. If you are looking to move to another state, you would need to transfer your license to that state by going to the local DPS office.

Not much better here. Every state has its own Department of Motor vehicles with it's own rules. When you relocate to another state you must obtain a replacement license and vehicle tags.

You have to do the same thing in the US when you move from state to state. Each states motor vehicle laws will have variances to them, hence the need to change.
But, you can drive anywhere in the US with it.
