On returning home after a 3 week trip I found my 2003 X5 to be dead. I have a Black and Decker smart charger which is apparently easy to use. I have never had to charge a battery before. Also its freezing here just now like 0 - 5 F and im not sure if my battery will be frozen or if I can still try charging it. Any advice is much apprecated. What can happen if I try to use the charger on a frozen battery???/ Thanks

A friend of mine bought a 2001 Golf GTi, and he has had nothing but problems with it, however I have personally enjoyed VW since I was eight, but I do not want a car that will break down on me once a month. so are Mk IV Golf's Reliable? What about MK V Golf/Rabbits?

I drive a 1996 Buick Century. One day, while pulling into my driveway, my dashboard lights simply shut off. Upon closer examination, I found that along with my dashboard lights, my power locks, rear defroster, headlights, and overhead lights do not work. I checked the fuses for these systems and found nothing damaged. My dad thinks I blew a "main fuse", but neither he nor I know where these are located or how to go about replacing them. Can someone please offer some insight on the situation? We searched online but found little on "main fuses", so it might not even be that. Any help would be appreciated!

It works with the turn signals. They currently don't work and the relay switch needs replaced. But the guy who was gonna replace it doesn't know where it is.

Every time I unlock my doors I hear a rattle/thumping in the passenger door, the window will go down, and the exterior turn signal light on the mirror will flicker. To make it stop, you have to manually lift the door lock knob. After which, everything will function normally. In addition, I've had the express window option fail, the mirror has quit working, and the exterior temp. gauge has malfunctioned. I assumed it was a computer software issue, but the dealership told me that was not the case and that I needed to replace several parts. I think they're trying to rip me off. Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, was it a software issue?

this is a sad story... I have a 1997 dodge ram 1500 club cab, 4X4, 5.9L Magnum V8, 8' bed, SLT Laramie features, the HD tow package beautiful truck, i decided to get my oil changed and was working 12 hrs a day 7 days a week so i had it changed at the first place i could get into fast. walmart oil change.... they did the job and less then a month later im driving home from work and the engine sounds like metal to metal. I added a quart of oil just to get home to do repairs. once home i did a complete engine flush with fresh oil and filter, drained, and replaced. i have a horrible knocking noise and figure its a rod knock. im at a toss up whether i should sell my beloved truck, or have it repaired. To put in a used engine will cost me $1500-2000 (which i cant afford until summer comes back around and im back to working construction). I decided to post on craigslist (sobbing badly on the wifes shoulder) could it be its not a rod knock? landlord is gonna tow it...what should I do?

I am looking at a low-mileage 78 240d that supposedly had the wire loop from the glow plug come loose and stick in the exhaust valve. It seems a likely story but I have no experience with this engine. I have rebuilt an M110 inline 6 with good results, so am no stranger to Mercedes in general. Is it possible that this is as simple as it seems? Pull head, grind exhaust valve and seat, install head, add new glow plug? Or is there something else that you think might be happening that will make this a difficult repair?
