Start by checking fuses, then the fuel pump pre filter or "sock" may be cruddy too. A car this old may have plugged injectors also. It could also be that you have a pinched fuel line somewhere. There are many things that it could be, The safest and smartest way to find out would be to take it to a competent mechanic. Especially if it's got a carburetor, You don't want to mess with that unless you know what you're doing! It may just need a carburetor rebuild kit.

It may be the fuel pump.
A crude check would be to take the fuel line off of the filter again, put it into a jug, turn the key to on for a second, see if it pumps any fuel into the jug.
If nothing comes out, check the fuse for the pump, if that's ok, the pump is prob bad.

First, there is only one fuel filter. Second, you need to give more information as to what is going on. The more information you give, allows a person like myself, to answer your question with the best information that one may have. In any case good luck T-Bear.

throttle position sensor?
mass air flow sensor?
only has one fuel filter.
if ya don't have fuel PRESSURE like you're supposed to it could be your fuel pump. The simplest thing to do is to check your fuel pressure. It should be around 45 or 50 if it's multi-port injection, and 10 to 15 if it's throttle body.
