I drive a 1996 Buick Century. One day, while pulling into my driveway, my dashboard lights simply shut off. Upon closer examination, I found that along with my dashboard lights, my power locks, rear defroster, headlights, and overhead lights do not work. I checked the fuses for these systems and found nothing damaged. My dad thinks I blew a "main fuse", but neither he nor I know where these are located or how to go about replacing them. Can someone please offer some insight on the situation? We searched online but found little on "main fuses", so it might not even be that. Any help would be appreciated!

under the hood, on the drivers side, there is a black plastic box, with a thumb nut on top.
Unscrew the thumb nut, lift the cover off and you will vind the main fuses, and in some cases, the metal can circuit breakers as well.

check the fuses for a start don't know about american cars but these are located under the bonnet under a plastic cover which looks like a box or lower dash in the footwell drivers side on british cars you just pull them out look to see if wire inside is in tact and replace it with the same one if ok or a new one cheap to fix when you find the fuse box it will prob have a diagram on it stating what goes where if i was you i would type the model of car along with fuse box in the search bar and see if it comes up you might even find an owners club forum for your car subscribe it's usually free and there will be inthusiasts on there to help you sorry i can't be more persific but good luck

If there is not any noise and that they the two went out on an identical time then the evade guy is right. If the matters did no longer happen on an identical time attempt this. With the foremost on, open the door. positioned your finger on the button to roll the window down and devoid of letting bypass of the button Slam the door closed. do no longer slam it so stressful you harm the window yet to offer it some sturdy jolts. This on occasion will unlock a frozen motor. sturdy success

i own a repair shop, and these cars have fusible links also that bolt to the positive post of the starter, and they provide power for just about everything on them,if one of those blows out ,it will knock over half of the stuff the car has on it out,and it wont work, you may have to get down in under it and test these one by one, usually when one does like your did its a fusible link that has blown on it,also look for a bad ground ,that can cause it to totally loose about all its functions also, electrical work is time consuming, and very tedious,so be careful doing this, good luck i hope this help,s.
