Car Makes - August 2006

My gas mileage for my 2003 Dodge Neon SE isn't so great. I get about 21-24 mpg city and about 26-28 mpg on the highway. It's an automatic and it's a former rental car so the dang thing doesn't have cruise. What can I do to improve my gas mileage on this thing? Or is that pretty par for the road?

Am using a breaker bar, socket, and strap wrench. The bolt is real tight and wont turn. (trying to replace the timing belt)

I am going to get my car inspected but the svc shop said it would fail the diagnostics with the check engine light on. The vehicle runs fine but I would like to know the errror code also. Can I check the OBD codes myself?

I just got an '01 Intrepid SE, and was thinking of replacing the stock air filter with a K&N. Will this improve fuel mileage, or are my friends just f'n with me?


Also, if a K&N doesn't improve MPG, what will?

I have a 2004 Mustang with the 40 Annivesary logo on it. I kind of want to upgrade to a 2006 Mustang. I have been told that the year and body of my Mustangs is better then the new ones. my dodge ram 1500 oil gauge droped to 0 i did hear some rattiling noice, were do i start.

I recently purchased a used 1995 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. I was told later by a lady that I worked with that owned a 1997 Monte that her engine and transmission went out at 100,000 miles and that they tended to do that in these cars. The car I purchased is mechanically sound and was checked out by 3 mechanics and only has 79,000 miles on it. I was wondering if anyone has found this rumor to be true.

i have a jeep wrangler with a sbc 350 and the temp keeps climbing once i get stuck in traffic. it has a new 3 row copper brass radiator new water pump and a 3300cfm zirgo electric fan the temputure reaches 210 when i am stuck in traffic and it keeps climbing from there.. please any suggestions would help it has a 180 thermostat also i live in az
