I don't have a manual for this car, and I wouldn't even know how to turn it on if I knew what it was... any light you can shed is worth ten points to the best answer.

Manuals are available for that fine little car Mail Order call your closest dealer for address. Over drive is a highway gear for maxium fuel economy Nissan has the switch on the shifter to allow the owner "that's you" to turn off the over drive when all of your driving is below 45 miles an hour or stop and go on the freeway. Let me put it like this you are going 30 in drive OD on let up on the gas and the transmission will shift to fourth gear (over drive) traffic starts to move you push the gas. Your transmission down shifts twice 4/3 then 3/2. OD off keeps the transmission in third so only one shift is needed. And a little quicker off the line.

I assume that the car has automatic transmission.

There will be a button somewhere on the gear selector which controls this.

When it shows O/D on it means that the highest hear will not be used, so you will have better acceleration, but will use more fuel.

It should normally be on the OFF position, which may or may not be indicated - it may tell you only when it is ON.

I hope this helps

That's the over drive off light, You turn OD off when you are pulling a load or something. should be a button to turn it back on. I have a Ford F350 and the button for it is at the end of the turning signal lever. I dont know where yours would be, hunt for it.

Overdrive off..... It's best to keep the overdrive on because you save gas when it's on and you could damage your transmission if you drive on the highway with over drive off.

same as on a Pulsar I had...it means Over Drive off. You use it when you hit crusing speed on the freeway, around 55 or so. You will feel the difference. When you slow to around 45-40, turn it off.

overdrive for the transmission. when it is turned off, you will run off your 3 to 4 main gears depnding on your specific trans. if you turn overdrive on, its basically an extra gear to help fuel consumption and mileage. id leave it on.
