i found the positive terminal on the left side of the engine but i cannot find the negative one

im trying to disconnect the battery to work on the sound system but i cannot find the negative terminal

Did you checked in the right side of your trunk.

The battery is in the trunk under a panel on the right side near the tail light.

there is no negative terminal in the front but if you want to take it off it is back in the trunk underneath a panel ion the right side.

You just use a solid piece of metal for the ground, like one of the strut tower nuts, or something on the motor.
Note to below posters: I believe his battery is under the rear seat, I know mine is on my '92 520. There is a connection to it under the hood for jump starting.

the negetive should be grounded by the base of the engine, look about 1 foot down on the right side of where the battery mount is, you should find it there.

the negative is just a ground right. if you took the battery off how did you lose it? is there 2 coming of the starter one + one -? My contour svt will kick your butt anyway. got it for 2900usd on ebay.
