Mike’s Garage on Pensacola St in Tallahassee tows her car when her oil light came on and says the college girl’s motor is froze up when in fact there is a dead battery where a new one was. Luckily dad flew down there and retrieved the vehicle, and Mike, well he’ll just have to screw one of you people reading this.

I have a 97 Toyota Corolla. Last Saturday I took the battery to Sears for check-up (since I was not able to start the car) and they said battery needs replacement. I got a new Die Hard battery and installed myself. Double checked the connections. I was able to start the car after few attempts ( click sound). I drove the car for about 15 mins and parked in the garage. When I tried to start the car immediately after stopping, it won't start. It makes a humming noise under the hood and the click sound. The clock, windows, radio all work. Is my alternator gone bad. If so, why did the new battery die after driving for 15 mins? Also, is there was an alternate way to get the car started so that I can take it to the mechanic?

Any help would be much appreciated!!

Sometimes when I start the engine nothing will happen, just a little "click", as if the battery were dead. However, the needles in the dashboard flicker simultaneously , crazy...The car will start easily after I release my frustration by kicking the break padle and beating up the gear shifter...Lately it started to doing all the above while I'm driving, very scary...
Mechanics at a Jeep dealership told me they can't find anything wrong in the dash board, they would have to actually see when it happens, until then...nothing can be done!
I'm worried that the short might affect the power steering or power breaking?!
Has anybody ever experienced anything like this and how could you solve the matter?

Imagine that you have a very slow driver in front of you (driving at 15 mph in a 30 mph zone) while driving on a one lane road. You are starting to get impatient and do not know what to do. What do you do to help you relax and prevent you from getting angry at the slow driver in front of you???? Thanks

Have a 92 Camry with a Standard Trans, great commuter car, averages about 35 to 37 mpg (over 500 miles on a road trip per 15 gals of gas). Purchased it used about 8 months ago. Almost sounds like something is loose under the car and hitting the undercarriage. Usually get the noise when hitting a bump or dip in the road and sometimes that sounds close to a front shock but occasionally sounds like it's directly below the stick shift.

The two noises may be unrelated and suspect that the front shocks may have to be replaced in addition to installing a clutch kit. Also, the clutch is already suspect. Have the Haynes repair manual and will look into it.

Question: Would it be advisable to try to repair the clutch myself or better to pay someone? If I should repair it, any recommendations on a manufacturer of clutch kit? Should I replace the shocks first?

My father-in-law's 1992 Chevy 1500 has an intermittent problem with the fuel pump on his truck. He had a problem with the fuel pump where it wouldn't prime, and it was in his driveway which was at an incline. His neighbor, who is a diesel mechanic, looked at it after they pushed it into the garage and it still wouldn't prime. They even took off the fuel filter to see if fuel was going through the line, but nothing was. He finally called me over to look at it, and I tried the same thing, but this time I unplugged the fuel pump, checked the connections and then plugged it back in. After that it was working fine, until he parked it in his driveway again. Then it did the same thing. He has a new fuel pump that I am going to put in, but it just sounds funny that this only happens on an incline and nowhere else. I am trying to find out if there is some other reason as to why this would happen. Maybe the fuel level sensor? But that is the only other thing I can think of. Any other ideas?

I know that people love their trucks or cars, whatever the case may be. But if you have a dodge truck, why would you have a BIG dodge sticker on the back window? Or if you drive a Cadillac, and you hace a Cadillac plate on the front. The list goes on..... It's not like people don't know what you're driving, so what's up with that? Isn't it kind of dumb?

It's an old car, and sits in my garage. In the past 3-4 months it has taken progressively longer to start the engine. Until this past weekend, it wouldn't start. Battery is good and it cranks and cranks, but no start.

I think it's the spark plug or fuel pump. But if either one was to fail, do they typically fail overtime? Because my car was starting but it just got harder and harder over time until this weekend when it stopped starting. I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities.

I was driving down a four lane divided boulevard around lunch time today (Monday) in light traffic, when I saw the police cleaning up a traffic accident. There was a convertible in the middle of the grassy raised medium that was turned sideways and had its passenger side smashed in by the light pole that obviously stopped it. I hoped that there wasn't a passenger in the car, because the pole was where he should have been.

I worked briefly as an accident investigator for auto insurance companies shortly after graduating with a BS in engineering, but I couldn't figure out off the top of my head how it was possible for a driver, on dry pavement and a sunny day, to do this.

Insert whatever philosophical or religious comment that you want about the fragility of life, or idiot drivers. You decide.
