It's an old car, and sits in my garage. In the past 3-4 months it has taken progressively longer to start the engine. Until this past weekend, it wouldn't start. Battery is good and it cranks and cranks, but no start.

I think it's the spark plug or fuel pump. But if either one was to fail, do they typically fail overtime? Because my car was starting but it just got harder and harder over time until this weekend when it stopped starting. I'm trying to narrow down the possibilities.

Possibly bad gas. Gasoline does go bad over time, when was the last time you filled up?

If you added the stabilizer then the gasoline should be able to last the 6 months.

I would then test to see if you are getting the appropriate spark.

Get a timing light from a place like Autozone. They'll loan them to you for a deposit, which is fully returned when you return the tool.

Set up the timing light and have someone turn over the engine with the starter and see if you're getting a flash on the timing light. If not, something is wrong with your spark system (spark plug, coil, igniter module)
