My husband has a yamaha vstar and just recently he pulled it out of the storage unit to start. When he started the bike he was letting him warm up so he had the choke on, after 10 mins of warming it up he took the choke off, and tried to ride it but it died. The only way he could get it to start and stay started was to have the choke on it won't run without the choke, so we are going to have to have it hauled in. My first question is what could be wrong, how much will it probably cost to have fixed, and if he has insurance what is the likelihood towing would be covered?

A buddy of mine gave me an old motorcycle of his ('79 kawasaki) that he had in his shed the last couple years (he got from a friend too) that he didnt need (he's got a crotchrocket). Tires were flat and he said he thought the tank has rust or something in it and also that the bike started/ran when he first got it and then stopped. So I figure getting it fixed is cheaper than buying a used one (most likely). So what I want to do is try to refresh, replace, restore some smaller stuff that I can do myself and then if there is a bigger problem, can have a mechanic do that. I will be buying new tires. I will be tomorrow cleaning out the gas tank. Is there anything else smaller i can do to help restore the bike. I guess I should have prefaced this by saying that I got a new battery and the motor turns over (and lights come on) but doesnt start. I only tried it a few times because didnt want the rust contaniments in the gas tank to flow through the cycle.

I live close to railroad tracks. Every now and then, I'll hear one coming through, usually at a low speed, and hear something sound like it's winding up or spooling up. It only lasts about 1/2 - 1 second. What is this sound?

My husband says that difference is there job uses. For example different weight compacities. I believe a high/low is simply a forklift. There may be different size forklifts, however all are forklifts. Please settle this for us.

While I am driving my 1997 saturn, white smoke comes from under my hood. It lasts for about 3-5 seconds and stops. Car temperature is normal and the car runs fine before, while and after the smoke shows up. I look under the hood and everything is normal. Any idea what might be going on?

Here in Denmark, it is 220% import duty on all vehicles.

So I'm gonna steal one I think.

Good idea?

The idea here is to drive straight out of the car dealership and onto the freeway, and subject the car to 17 hours of freeway driving, covering 1,150 miles.

My fear is that this will have a negative effect on the new engine.

I'm wondering about the lifespan of the average Subaru (mileage-wise). I always hear and friends have experienced Hondas and Toyotas running up to 200,000 or more. What could I expect from a Subaru?
