If I wanted to build a helicopter just like the one used in "Airwolf", what resources would you suggest I use?

AIRWOLF was a Bell 222 business copter. Bell made them to ferry executives around. They looked cool, and the landing-gear support "wings" were a great place to hang "machine guns" and "cannons," so they fancied one up. You could fancy one up yourself, with enough money and some fast talk to the FAA.

As to AIRWOLF the "actual" movie copter--forget it. Even now, we can't build helicopters that can do even a fraction of what that thing was capable of.

The speed, for example, is impossible even in theory. The closest thing to it at the moment is the CarterCopter--an attempt to build an autogyro that does what AIRWOLF was supposed to do--unload the rotor and use just the tiny wings when you fly fast. The problem is, rotors go crazy when you move them through the air that fast--even if they're not lifting anything. Carter's people think they've got that licked--but even they won't claim more than about 400mph, and that at very high altitude. Jet fighter speed on the deck? Fuggedaboudit!

LOL whisper mode? I love it. Go to the bell helicopters web site and purchase one. If I remember correctly it is a bell 222.

Rotor craft are high tech pieces of engineering. Precision crafted and forged parts and you want to build one with out any traning and experience? And on your own?
