If oil is leaking out of a gasket or anything like that, get it replaced.

well i would defiantly replace the head gasket and it sounds like your oil pump just isn't putting out the pressure you need. It may be from the leak or just a worn out pump... Try replacing the head gasket and your oil filter it may be clogged up and also change the oil to a lighter weight too and see if it helps if your still not getting oil to the crankcase then it may be the oil pump its self see if the wire mesh filter on the oil pump is gummed up or clogged if not then try changing it out with a new oil pump...Now the car dies when you try to move hmmm.... well that could be that you just need a major tune up from the sound of it try giving it one and see if it helps :) with more info i could help you more better but that's the best i can do for now haha i hope some of this helps ya out good luck =^) ttyl

could be a faulty starter/ solinoid.. If it was the alternator, the car would start the warning lights would be on the dash all the time and the first signes would be as your driving along the radio wouold fade out, then the car would cut out and no power at all...then you wait and the battery would recover, and the car would restart.. but would only run for a shorter distance. Every night you would have to recharge the battery and in the morning the car would start first time every time. So i think replacing the alt was a waist of pennies. Perhaps if you can add if the car actuatly turns over when you put the key in and try to start it.. or if everything is dead?, when the engine wont start- does the radio work fine?. If it was a fuel pump i would imagine it would turn over and slutter to life with what is in the carb/injection system

There is no way to attempt to answer this question without make model and engine size. Your best bet is to take it to a good mechanic. have them diagnose it. Don't go to a "jiffy whatever". You get what you pay for, Take it to a well established shop with at least one older mechanic. Automotive experience is primarily learned on the job. If this happens to be an early 90's accord there is an updated oil pump seal retainer to cure a common problem.

No year make model or milage. I am only guessing. Either the engine has sludged up and oil won't flow down to the oil pan. Or your putting oil into the wrong place.

how do you know there is oil in crankcase? are you seing it in valve cover? if so you have plugged oil returns in the head and its not letting oil drain down to pan.

Check that the oil pressure relief valve is not stuck and that the engine breather is not blocked, failing that it is big problems---expensive

Try replacing the oil filter and PCV valve.

I think you need a new Head gasket or seal.
I would think it is leaking into the motor and burning up that way.

Best of luck
