You will BREAK THIS CAR IN 2.
The weight of the 350 alone is to much for the uni body to handle. You want to pull up next to a Vtec SI type R , S or tuner modified bucket and race em ??
and the first time you jump on it and the wheels get very good bite the motor and tranny will come up through the hood, floor and fire wall and bend this junk in half that's if the rear wheels don't break off and leave you setting a the starting light as it runs down the street catching your competitor. Seriously
You need to think IHRA Modified Chassis or think NASCAR chassis tubular structured, a full frame that connects the fire wall to the rear of the under body and the cross member for the engine mount. Then you will need big brakes, even from a 00 Chevy Sonoma pick up will work so you can stop and control all of that power.
You will need =
tubular front to rear Chassis for structure
reinforced cross member for the engine and trans
rear and front tubular suspension mounts
big brakes front and rear
It can be done and it has.

Ok,,now that the afraid of my shadow people have had their say.
What rear axle are you using and did you modify the attachment points? Stock will not hold.
How did you attach the motor mounts? Was it done in a way to not induce stress risers.
What did you do to the front springs to carry the extra load?
Twisting the frame with basically a stock 350...No Way.
What tranny. Automatic..less stress on the structure.
Did you add heavier antisway bars?
Basically, if you are smart enough to do this swap, you are beyond most who have answered and have yourself answered the above questions, and therefore have a streetable and SLEEPER car.
Few on this forum will remember the V-8 powered street Vegas and Pintos,The Neon is 10x the car those were and they survived.
Good Luck.
Hate ricers too..now show them what a GOOD car exhaust should sound like!!

Drag1line is right on. Jay Lino did the same to a Ford Torinato. It all depends on the parts put in it to stiffen it up and handle the weight.
Front wheel drives get less traction at the same horse power as rear wheel to weight transfer. In a fw the weight is on the front and pretty much stays there. In a Rw it shifts. The weight is close to even and on take off it shifts to the rear. The harder u go the more it moves the weight back and the more power the more your rear end will want to twist. Fw is meant to drag most of the weight, Rw is meant to push it, so look at all points of the car. The car is not the same Neon now, its like a kit car.

This is an engine with some serious torque for that piece of tin that it's in. I'd make sure that the engine and trans are in solid and then brace up the floor pans with any steel you got laying around. If it is strong down low the body will handle it. The suspension is another issue you don't say what rear end is in it, or is there? It is Unibody!!

Sounds like fun to me, just like a bunch of bored mechanics. I heard of a 302 put in a Ford Focus, but it wasn't practical to drive being so front heavy and all the modifications. But what the heck, it's only a Neon, drive it til it breaks! Life is too short, have fun!

ha ha id like tosee that well as far as the frame it depends on the power of the engine if it's like 500 or 600 hp run sub frame connectors or it but you will have to make them

If your not sure its safe yourself, don't drive it. It would not have a uni-body frame, and without one, you will split your car in half pretty quickly. For this kind of work it should have been evident if it has a uni-body or not.

Safe?-NO! Insane?-Yes! Have you no respect for your fellow human? If you street this monster then prepare to suffer the consequenses such as life in prison. This build will tease you to stay on that strait line forever. The facts of your build dictate a sure end to your lunacy-one of violent death and heartbreak. Bale out now and resolve this exercise to one of practiced exercise of hands-on experience.
