I am in need of a replacement vin tag for my 1953 Ford F100. I do not want a replica tag, I want to know if there is a way to get a duplicate tag from Ford. i was on the site but found no answers. I did email them, no response yet. Just thought someone might know. I thought there was something like "Ford archives". Thanks

I have a 2002 ford e350 5.4L that wont start. Prior to the problem, the driver said he heard knocking coming from the engine or transmission and then loss of power. The transmission was rebuilt recently. He parked the truck and now it wont start. When trying to start the engine, all it does is the starter will click, click and nothing else. There are times when you could hear the starter relay click click also. I replaced the starter and it still does the same. I jumped the battery thinking it was low in voltage, and it still does the same. I used jumper cables from the battery to the starter with the ignition turned on. All i get was a click click. What could be the problem?

I was just in the elevator with this guy whose bike stopped working right after he installed a new seat. I told him he probably knocked a battery connection loose or something. He said he checked all that and couldn't find anything, so he took it to the harley mechanic.

He finally got it back today. Among other things, they said his plugs were fouled and changed them and they cleaned and rejetted the carbs as well. All this probably cost at least $500, but he was happy his bike was running again. Any thoughts on all this?

Today while driving my van I noticed that my speedometer wasn't working. it is stuck under the pin that is located below the 0 mph - what happened and how do I fix it - tried some self diagnostic stuff with the ignition switch and the trip button and nothing worked. Noticed that all the other electronics work and that the van is turned off the dial on the speedometer drops really low in the area on the bottom of the face of the speedo and the trip/odometer is working.

My transmission went out after 144,000 miles and purchased a used transmission from this auto salvage near by. On the reciept it shows that they recommend having the transmission flushed out before actual running of the transmission on car. Do you think that should be neccessary? The one i bought had like 50,000 miles on it and was not too pricey but i don't want to have it put on and not have it done right.

Also does anyone have an idea how long it takes to change out a transmission?

I am looking at a '66 Ford Mustang, a automatic 289 coupe. I really need a pricing guide like a checklist. I would like to know what makes it more valuable and what makes it less valuable. It would be great if someone could provide a checklist for all options of the car, for example if it's a V6 or a V8, because I'm not sure, or if there are certain aspects which need restoration, like rust, or cosmetic issues. The owner is reluctant to take the time to do the research, so I gave up on asking hopelessly for 6 months - and go ahead and do it for him. It does not run, and he says it needs to be restored. It will definitely need a new paint job, and likely some cosmetic work if not a lot. I dont know anything more than you know at this point. I'm not even 100% positive it is a 1966, but anything you can tell me helps, thanks.

I own a 2003 Pontiac Grand Am base model. It has about 145k miles. I hear a creaking sound from my front end, but it is very infrequent. It can happen when I barely turn the steering wheel, or it will happen when I turn it almost 180 degrees, or it wont happen at all. My steering is fine however. The wheel doesnt vibrate, it turns like new. It even corners just fine.

I submitted several ? about my truck and recieved some ansewers, fortunately I did not follow any of the advice I got responses for, because you all were wrong and would have cost me alot more than the $8.35 I spent to get it fixed. Mechanics being new ones or old school should not be giving out the advice they are when they do not know what they are talking about

I have a 1990 Pontiac Sunbird with about 147,000 miles, but it's not the original motor, it's been replaced with one with 47,000 mls. supposedly...anyhow, I repaired the gaps in the exhaust leak problems with new pipes etc. Repaired all vaccum leaks it had two of them. Replaced the air cleaner also, and fuel filter a couple months ago. I haven't worked in a couple years...so I only drive about 300mls. per week around town to stores, gas, etc. With 1/2 tank of gas I put in two days ago, I went 6 miles to walmart, 4 miles to vet, and I'm nearly out of gas already...needle is just reading above "E" why? and what can I do to resolve this gas consumption problem?

I'm in the market to buy a new car and every dealer I go to swears their make have an excellent history for longetivity. How do I know which ones truly are?
Are there any small car owners who have been driving their car since it was brand new and are still driving it for more than 15 years? I would love to hear from you. If the make and model are no longer being manufactured, would you provide which model replaced it, if you know?
Are the parts to repair it readily available or does it keep having to be taken to the dealership for repainrs and maintenance?
