I am in need of a replacement vin tag for my 1953 Ford F100. I do not want a replica tag, I want to know if there is a way to get a duplicate tag from Ford. i was on the site but found no answers. I did email them, no response yet. Just thought someone might know. I thought there was something like "Ford archives". Thanks

Ford archives do not go back past 1967. Your only choice is a replica. There are manufacturers out there who make VIN tags that are identical to the origionals. Check out http://www.nationalpartsdepot.com/. They stock hard to find parts for all makes of old cars and trucks. I didn't see VIN tags in their Ford truck catalog which covers models from 1948 through 1998 but if you call them they may have a source for them. Concourse correct VIN tags for the old Mustangs are readily available and the same companies surely make them for other vehicles also.

I know that the VIN tags are a real hassle. At the plant, each VIN number is reported to the Federal government when it is stamped. If he have an accident and the truck gets damaged before it is built, it is again a hassle to stamp out another one and a reason has to be given why we stamped an extra VIN tag. The government is very tight on this.

good luck.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

A duplicate of the original? No, absolutely not. That would violate several federal and state laws.

If you plan on getting plates and operating the truck, you will end up going to your state DMV and getting them to install a new one. Differing states have varying requirements for replacement tags so be sure to check yours.
