simple. call a tow truck and tell them there is a car parked in the fire lane. cars parked in fire lanes either get a ticket, or if there too long, they WILL get towed. if the cops call for the truck, it will be takin to the impound yard. advise management to start enforcing the fire lane. that goes hand in hand with their compliance of meeting fire codes. all states have laws reguarding fire lanes, and there is a stipulation that cars found there will be towed at owners expense. u could advise ur local fire department that management at this complex isnt following state law about fire lanes, and they will take it up with them real quick.

The owners and managers cannot tow from a fire lane. They do have the authority to call the police to ticket and tow. People parked in the fire lane take a big chance. If there is a fire, and the trucks come rolling in, they can just push a car out of the way. In most jurisdictions you won't get insurance coverage on the damage, and will have to pay for any damage to the fire truck (ambulance, police car). The best I ever saw was the fried-brain guy that parked in the spot blocking a hydrant because it was the only open spot. There was a fire call, and his car was there when the fire truck arrived. They smashed out his windows, opened the doors, and ran the hoses through his car! The fire was was at the place he was visiting, to boot!

It's illegal, even though it's a private parking lot. If a cop happens to drive by and see it, and is in the mood, she can get ticketed. About a year ago I was getting cash out of an ATM machine in the evening. While I was doing so a guy drove into the lot and parked right in front of the machines - which is marked as a fire lane - instead of pulling into a parking spot. Not a minute later a sheriffs car driving past stopped and wrote him a $471 ticket even though he was back in his car before the sheriff even stopped rolling up. Richard

Usually the police are the ones to deal with illegal parking issues!

If there is an emergency, any delay in response can cause an increase in the loss of lives and property! The fire lanes are there to allow the emergency vehicles access to the buildings. Any car parked in the fire lane needs to be ticketed and towed!

I will not respond to PS and his comments about the fire department, other than to say that if his home were to catch fire tonight, fire department personnel will still put their lives on the line to save him!

All you can do is call and report the offender. The rest is up to the Police Dept. If there is a fire and a vehicle is in front of a hydrant, the Fire Dept has the right of way to either run the hoses through the car or MOVE the car any way they want to in order to gain access to the hydrant.

you can call and report them,or who ever is doing it ,but its still up to the police to do something about it,if they don't come out and ticket them they will keep doing it,i agree its not safe to do this especially in the event of a fire, but still people do it,if the law doesn't enforce the laws on this there's very little the individual can do about it,good luck with it.

The Fire Marshall or the local police dept. or fire company. I don't blame you for wanting to get the matter resolved. Good luck.

having a car illegally parked in the fire lane does not cause a fire.
So if there is a fire, and the fire truck can't put the fire out as soon as it otherwise might have, you still can't blame the car's being there for the fire.
Firemen don't do anything helpful during a fire anyways. They will spray 6 million gallons of water on a small stove fire and do 300,000 dollars damage from water to put out a fire that did 500 dollars damage from flame and smoke.
