I drive a 5-speed '87 Firebird T/A ... what should and shouldn't I do? What can I avoid doing (other than riding the clutch and grinding the gears) that will hurt the car? What CAN I do to make it a smoother ride? I have my on and off days ... some people tell me to press the clutch all the way down when shifting, others say to find the "catch point" or the sweet spot.

Help me out here.

When i take off from a stop or slowing down their will be a clunk in the rear end of my truck. It always happens when i take off from a stop and sometimes when i just slown down and then take off again. It doesn't happen when i'm just driving only when i go to take off, sometimes from a slowing down and on the rare occasion when i go over a bump like through a camp road

Anyone know what is causing this and how i can fix it?

Any help is greatly appretiated, Thank You

Ok... I don't know the proper terminology for auto parts, so you'll have to excuse the crudeness of my explanation.

My 99 Windstar has a horrible wobble coming from the front passenger side.
My husband & his mechanic friend have replaced most of the front end, (Tie rod ends, "Sway bars?" etc.) The only thing that did not get replaced was a large triangle shaped piece on the driver side (Sorry, I have no idea what its called) but it was replaced on the passenger side.

My tires are relatively new, and we've checked to ensure all the lugnuts are tight. My tires are properly inflated.

I've had a wobble for a while, thats why all those parts were replaced, it never completely got rid of it.

Now, today, its a LOT worse. The wobble makes my steering wheel shake, and I feel it when I'm braking now too..

At highway speed (80 - 100km/h) it feels like my tire is going to fall right off. (I drive highway to work)

Any idea of what this could be?
We're in Ontario

The only way I can keep their names straight is to think the "RL" stands for "Replaced Legend". Legend, Vigor, Integra - those were all great names. I hate the alphabet soup style of naming cars that is so popular today.

I'm asking this on behalf of my sister. She took her driver's test a year ago and failed because when she got on a highway on-ramp, she sped up to around 50 mph or so, so she could merge with traffic. The instructor failed her for this, saying that you have to go 35 mph through the entire length of the on-ramp and speed up once you begin to merge.
This doesn't make sense to me. I always thought that as soon as you get on the on-ramp, you try to speed up to the speed of highway traffic so you can merge and not be a danger.
Does anyone know what, officially, you're supposed to do? She's preparing to take her test again and this is really bothering her.

I think all this confusion over what is over and under the limit for driving is too sketchy. Instead of banning someone over the limit for a year, just take away the licence for GOOD. No return. NO drinking , even a sniff of it, should be tolerated.

When someone gets a 12 month ban, its not over when they get their licence back. They'll struggle to get insurance and any job involving driving.

A new law is needed. Zero Tolerance. Drink & Drive - Lose your licence for life. That'll put a stop to it.

I have a 1984 Honda Nighthawk S, the bike used to smoke a little bit of grey smoke at the begginning but now it blows out grey smoke all the time and alot of it. It also consumes oil at about a quart every 800 miles.

Is this the valve seals? Should I take it to a shop? Is it a problem that I should live with or will it get gradually worse?

Thanks.

I have a 1999 Chevy Lumina 3.1 engine with 127,000 miles. The other day I was driving and the check engine light came on. I have not taken it to the dealership or anything yet because since it's out of warranty, I don't want to waste money if I don't have to. But I had searched the internet and found that possibly overfilling the gas tank can cause gas to go into the charcoal canister. Is this true? Also, if there's gas in it, is there a way to get it out? Will it work itself out? Or do I have to replace the canister? Remember...this is just a guess. I don't know for sure if that's the problem, but I assume it is since I always fill the tank way too full so that the gas sits up the filler neck to the door. (I won't do that anymore now though since I found out it's bad...I only did that because my dad told me it wouldn't hurt anything...ha! Yeah right!

Thanks!
