This wont put them over the top because their vehicles just arent as good, and the warrenty doesnt come on many cars (no SRT models, no diesels, and a few others).
More than anything though, the warrenty is NON TRANSFERRABLE. That means the resale value of the cars is still very poor.
I would buy one if I was the kind of person who could and would be happy with keeping and driving the same car for 30 years. Im not, but if you are, it would be an awesome idea to buy one. a guarentee that your car will run as long as you dont sell it? Sounds like a good deal to me.

It is a good try at gaining market share. To keep the warranty valid, do you have to have all maintenance performed at a Dodge dealership? What items are included in the warranty. I'm sure that if you look at the fine print on the contract, there will be some exclusions that will make it, not as valuable as one would first think.
To reduce this to the absurd,
1,000,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty for as long as you own the car, or 30 minutes, which ever comes first.
I do hope that this new warranty will help Chrysler gain some market. I can only think that the other old big three will follow suit. Anything we can do to keep the American auto industry all American is good for the country. It would also help cut the deficit in the balance of trade.

It's a good marketing strategy that will get the attention of the public, and there may be a few that will will (like you) look into it and get them some potential customers. When the word gets out that it is a "limited" lifetime warranty, that it is not transferable to a new owner if you sell your car, and that it doesn't cover all models, the public will soon lose interest.

Chrysler/Dodge/Jeeps lifetime powertrain warranty is definitely making me consider one of their vehicles for our next purchase.
My wife likes the Chrysler Sebring or possibly the Jeep Liberty, so it is definitely making us consider their cars
