As stated in the other answers, it could possibly be the valves. Could also be the AC compressor activating and deactivating, possibly a freon problem causing this.

if you did you oil changes on time you dont have to worry about what gas you put in or lifter noise on that vehicle.you have a fan clutch problem,take it to dealer and have them reprogram the engine contol computer,most the time that will fix the problem,sometimes it want and it needs replacement.looking about 500 bucks for replacement,100 bucks reprogram

The tick you hear could be the fuel injection system in operation.Sence you only hear this at idle.

Sounds like valves to me too. Next time you gas up put the high octane (most expensive) gas in and see if it goes away

This should have the LS 1 type of engine and you need to be using something like Mobil One 5W30 synthetic oil. Is this a 5.3L or a 6.0L?

we have a trialblazer ext lt and we have to get the most expensive. then one time we got the cheapest and it ran like crap so yeah try using the most expensive
