It really depends on the person. Chevy's are made for street preformance. Ford on the other hand is made for the working man , lower gears for pulling power, more pay load. I live in south Texas and i see alot of both. I personaly own a '79 F-250, '07 Chevy pick up, and a little Nissan car. As far as southern car cultuer, bidder is better. Oh yea, 4x4 is almost a must for us down here when it rains.

Basically, real southerners are more patriotic than yankees
who buy foreign cars, it stems back to the Germans and Japs attacking us and killing thousands of Americans, and
Chevrolet has long been identified with "Mom, apple pie,
and the USA."

Besides which, southerners are truck people, and trucks
are only made by Americans, Chevy, Dodge, and Ford.
Those Japanese things they call trucks are a waste of
time and money.

That's just the way it has evolved. Chevy's are cheaper to modify and there are plenty of parts available. The wage scale in the South was less than it was up North. Although, I think that today that gap has been reduced and the South is gaining ground.

reliability/availability/price/ Chevy was always GMs introductory make. Southerners knew they could get GM quality without spending Buick prices.

It primarily depends on which part of the south you're in, but overall GM vehicles are favoured because of the high number of GM vehicles in the junk yards, making repair and modification prices lower than any other brand.

Sounds like people in the south have bad taste. Chevy's are horrible.
