I'm from Australia going to the USA and will be driving mostly in California. Is it permissible to make a right turn on a red traffic signal? Is it legal to do a U turn at a traffic light controlled intersection? Are there any road rules that pertain only to the USA that I should be aware of other than the obvious ones like the ‘Keep right’ rule? Thank you kindly.

I have bought an alarm for my Navara D22. I am having trouble wiring the central locking. I wired it up but could only get 3 doors to lock and open, NOT the drivers door. Has anybody got any ideas on what to do, or wiring schematics for a Navara D22

Nearly had the car stolen last week. The police said the guys must have been scared away because judging by the damage they were moments away from taking it. The police said electronic alarms don't work, no matter what. Best to get some sort of mechanical deterrent. Any comments welcome on what I can to do secure my car. All the advertising recommends the best electronic gadgets around. Am dubious as they cost a lot and the police said they don't work.

My car over heats while we are in traffic or at traffic lights.
The fan cuts in and cools it down but I Imagine it wouldn't be too good for it to excessively get hot. It has a brand new radiator just put in. And also a heavy duty radiator coolant.

But driving along it stays as cool as a cucumber and has no troubles at all.
Any ideas? Many many many thanks!

Also it is a 90 model holden Barina.

When the aircon (and even when aircon is turned off and normal air blows through) is on cold, it runs fine. As soon as it comes off the blue section and into the white or red, it blows a white smoke out the vents, it is a toxic smelling smoke.
Mechanic didnt know what it was and sent me to aircon bloke who also doesnt know but did a pressure test today which came back fine. Any ideas? it is a commodore vt. cheers, Jo

I have a P reg Nissan Micra. When I slow down or stop the engine cuts out like I've stalled but I haven't as my foot is fully down on the clutch. This keeps happening more and more. Any ideas what might be wrong with it and how much it would cost to fix?!
Thanks

I've noticed recently that whenever I turn on the air conditioner in my truck, the air will smell like mildew for about 30 seconds, and then for the most part after that, go back to normal. Anyone experienced this before, and if so, how can I fix it?

While I have tried some suction cup screens, they did not work. Parked under trees and sap, leaves and bird poop. Sought sides of building first shadded when sun going down. Have also tried solar powered vent that sits on window ledge. All of these techniques are not working. Car is older and would prefer not to window tint. Has anyone tried anything differently. Wind shield screens don't cover the side windows.

Recently a Minessota bridge collapsed. However, some unnamed officials keep getting their quotes published in media as, "this really wasn't anyone's fault. everything was done properly and the bridge was inspected and ruled safe". My question is, who is to be blamed and held accountable for the collapse? It is hard to believe that nobody is at fault. Is this the negligence of state or negligence at federal level?

The car : Audi A6 Turbo Diesel 1995 2.5 (stick)
190,000 km.

The issue: A few days ago I noticed our Audi leaking an almost blackish liquid under the middle(towards the front) of the car. Looked under the car and it seems like it's dripping from the gear box. There is also a bit of clear liquid dripping as well but a bit further back..I'm guessing it's the A/C doing this ?
I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem or not or is this normal in summer when you run the A/C?
Also, when the car starts there is a funny smell (like diesel) inside the car.

Hope someone can shed some light on this issue.

Thanks in advance.
Bethany

I was watching The Fast and the Furious 3 the other day and saw Vin Diesel at the end. He reminded me of the scene in the first movie where, in the last "race", he drives that monster of a muscle car. When he comes off the light, the front of his car pops up from the torque being generate by the rear wheels. That reminded me I had seen some races on a TV show with the cars doing the same thing. Is there some sort of sub-culture in racing where people intend to do this? Why don't all the supercars and new muscle cars do this? Does it have to do with the types of wheels being used on the cars or maybe their gear ratio or the way the driver times his clutch use (as opposed to other racers clutch timing)? Most importantly, is there some special term used in reference to this? Thanks.

There is a plug in piece that has a rattle sound when the engine is running. It is next to the radiator and attached to the truck frame tucked under the bend where the hood shuts. Does anyone know that is?

I need to go to driving school to get my permit, but the problem is my mom is not letting me. I can cover the costs, im already sixteen, and every time I ask her she just says that she wants me to drive at eighteen and theres no point and all these other excuses.
I really wanna drive, but she is just not letting me. What should I do? Driving school is having a session starting this tuesday, meaning i only have one day to convince her.

Btw, does driving school only operate during sumer and spring vacation, or can I take clases during school time??

It's a Nissan 1989 B12. A noise comes from the hood when the car is running until it warms up. The sound comes from near the timing belt. It is a loud squeaking/squealing noise that stops after the car has been running for about 10 minutes. What do you think it is?

Lets assuming that on the front there are 2 of 240/45/R17
and on the rear 2 of 245/50/R17

or for an MOT do tyres require to be the same size on front and rear.

REAL answers only please, not opinions or speculations.
