The car : Audi A6 Turbo Diesel 1995 2.5 (stick)
190,000 km.

The issue: A few days ago I noticed our Audi leaking an almost blackish liquid under the middle(towards the front) of the car. Looked under the car and it seems like it's dripping from the gear box. There is also a bit of clear liquid dripping as well but a bit further back..I'm guessing it's the A/C doing this ?
I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem or not or is this normal in summer when you run the A/C?
Also, when the car starts there is a funny smell (like diesel) inside the car.

Hope someone can shed some light on this issue.

Thanks in advance.
Bethany

*Thanks for the replies. I told my husband it might be the gear box because that's where it's wet..all around the sides of it but noooo he didn't want to listen heh.
Car goes into the shop next Monday to be looked at and hopefully they'll fix the problem!
We decided not to drive it unless we really need to.*

The oil leak sounds like a gearbox oil leak .Checking the gearbox oil level is a tricky job probably best to bite the bullet and get it checked out at a garage I'm afraid if it is a leak then there will be warning lights like with the engine oil you may find the gears start to get stiff or rattly. A for the a/c problem is it working OK ?If so then maybe the leak is an outlet for condensation maybe look to see if the liquid is coming out of a small pipe,If it's leaking from a joint it could be the seals on the a/c these will need doing .If you don't run the a/c regularly ( once a week )this can happen.best of luck

Take it to a good repair shop right away. Old gear oil smells a little bit like diesel, so it's probably gear oil getting on the exhaust, and those gear boxes are crazy expensive.

The clear liquid is condensate from your AC this is normal. The black liquid is probably from your rear main seal on the crankshaft. The smell is the oil burning off the hot engine parts. You need to get this fixed at a shop. It will spot your driveway, plus you don't need to breathe the smell of oil either. good luck.

Its the burning of oil that smells
and then gets into the car.
