Just about everybody that answered is wrong lol.
I built a twin turbo system for my dad's 327 powered 1982 firebird.
Turbos DO NOT take a long time to spool up if the turbos. are matched to the engine size you have and the power band that the engine is ran in. If the turbo(s) are too big for your smaller engine to drive/spin them then yes you will get lag..
On this one.. Boost is at max amount by 3500 rpm.. His gears is 3.42 and a 1.0:1 trans gearing. his converter flashs to 4K rpm..
NO LAG what so ever launching from a dead stop.. Converter flashes up to 4,000 rpm on launch, full boost is there, no waiting for it to come on.
His firebird is a daily driver.. It's used in the same way a person's FWD econo car would be, but he has the power on tap if he needs or wants to play.. Or if he feels like going to the drag strip.
The parts used to make his turbo system was junkyard stuff mostly.. Two T3 turbos from junkyard volvo's... Ebay headers... I welded up the piping for him... Modded the 4bbl carb for blow through use, made a carb hat, boost ref'ed the fuel pump.
Due to his compression though 5-6 psi boost is all he can run w/o detonation on pump fuel... That's about to change though.. He has a set of Brodix 70cc heads, intercooler, etc wating to go on... Then he will beable to run 10-12 psi boost easy on pump fuel. Maybe even 15 psi.
For the most part, the car is drove very sensibly. Theres a time and a place to drop the hammer and that is not when your going to the store to buy milk and bread.

I own a 2000 Camaro with the 5.7 engine. It really goes, but i've done some work to it. I drove it pretty hard the first few months. I've had it for about 6 months and I've slowly started being nicer to it, but I still give it hell every time I drive it, just not as much as I did the first few months I got it. Plus when you have a nice exhaust it just gives you more reason to lay into it....i love it.

My 88 caddy RWD was fitted with a slightly modified chevy 350, long headers, stall conv., aftemarket intake, carb etc. I still cant wait to floor it & make those Camry drivers frown. Gets 10 MPG. Down from the mfr's 17/20mpg. But its still fun to suck gas & haul @ss! I cant wait to get more kick @ss stuff like a cam, aluminum heads & a set of gears to leave those imports wayy behind!

come on dude its common sence... people who have turbo/v8 cars trash their cars all the time... most cars that are turbo and or v8 are sports cars and the people who drive them are sport car enthusiasts.... its not rocket science
the guy below who posted that turbos take too long to spool up... WOW are you an idiot.... there are many kinds of turbos that spool at diff stages of rpms... ive seen turbos spool immediatly at 1k rpm.... supercharges suck *** ... in the end turbos have the upper edge

it depends if im racing against another car, my gst is always blowing of that sweet turbo noise from the blow off valve its a v6 but its fast, but hey i rather you not drive it hard bcuz i hear that the turbo kicks in at the higher rpm range so that will decrease its life span so now im just switchin gears at the 3s 4 ish rpm, yeah just use it when your racin
