I need to go to driving school to get my permit, but the problem is my mom is not letting me. I can cover the costs, im already sixteen, and every time I ask her she just says that she wants me to drive at eighteen and theres no point and all these other excuses.
I really wanna drive, but she is just not letting me. What should I do? Driving school is having a session starting this tuesday, meaning i only have one day to convince her.

Btw, does driving school only operate during sumer and spring vacation, or can I take clases during school time??
Please i need help

Don't be mad at your mom. Teenagers are truly awful drivers...I am 29, and when I was your age just about every kid I knew got into some sort of accident, some were very serious and she just doesn't want to take the risk.

That being said, you may want to ease into this and remind her that if you get your permit now, she has two years to keep tabs on you and help facilitate your driving progress. If she makes you wait for eighteen, that will add two years of frustration to the kettle, not to mention two fewer years of driving experience and an overall greater potential to make mistakes and bad decisions on the road without her there to help you make good ones.

I don't really have an answer to your question (sometimes parents are hard to convince). I guess you could be responsible about all other aspects of your life and hope that she recognizes it, but other than that, she is legally responsible until you are 18.

One thing to consider is that there might be real financial worries. Not only is driving school fairly expensive (at least it was when I did it), but teenagers are the most expensive class of drivers to insure. And insurance companies don't wait for parents to add kids to their policy. They calculate rates for any car in the household based on the most expensive licensed (and sometimes learner permitted) driver first. And it can be a whopper of an expensive price hike. Even if you never ever ever drive, the insurance company will cover for your age group, just in case you ever do. Ouch.

I wish you the best of luck.

And, yes, most driving schools have 'during the school year' driving school options.

First of all, forget about it. Your mom made it clear that she will not sign the papers to let you get your license until you are 18. Once you hit 18, then you don't need her signature to get your permit.

Just for your information, the driving school will come to your home and pick you up and give you a lesson. Then they will return you home. I'm sorry, but for some reason, your mom doesn't want you to drive. Do you have low school scores?
Have you been in trouble before? Ask her what the real reason is.

You have the rest of your life to drive. Enjoy being young without the responsibilities of driving.
